The Curation and Engagement Leagues - Sponsored by @carlgnash and @paulag!
Welcome to this weeks Curation and Engagement leagues, kindly sponsored by @carlgnash and @paulag.
I hope current members enjoyed the break last week, and perhaps have something to share regarding a change in approach that worked/didn't work for them.
I'd also like to mention here that a week or so back, the Engagement League was referenced by witness @krnel as he delegated his Steem Power to some of the top performers whilst he took a holiday - Thank you @krnel for bringing weight to the work being done here by some of Steem's top engagers!
To enter the leagues drop a comment below (Lifetime membership - unless you ask to be removed)
The leagues (tables) are reset each week and so any time is a good time to join!
On your marks, get set, curate!
Introduction
My general views on curation rewards (to score highly in League 1) are:
Vote before the big hitters, but not too early!
Voting in the first minute will earn you a curation reward of almost 0.000
Voting between 1 and 29 minutes will earn an increasing % of the curation rewards split - This value peaking at 30 minutes and remaining the same from this point onwards
It is commonly suggested that 15-25 minutes is the 'best' time to vote, especially on known 'power author' posts because they are likely to have more auto-votes coming in at these times - and you want to be ahead of these votes
Voting on good dtube/dlive/sndbox content, and utopian-io approved contributions (prior to the vote by @dtube / @utopian-io, etc) can earn some very good curation rewards
Voting on @ocd posts is likely to gain good curation rewards as founder @acidyo, and @anomadsoul support these posts after giving time for other accounts to vote - you will be in front of a couple of large votes here!
As you can see, a combination of many variables such as Steem Power, voting strength, voting weight, time of vote, and more, all play a part in the amount of rewards received.
My general opinion on maximizing engagement (to score highly in League 2) is:
Spread your vote and write lots of engaging comments!
Use your vote on the comments of others to make yourself (vote) seen and provoke a reply
The data for league 1
The raw data has been collected from SteemSQL - @arcange's MS SQL Server copy of the Steem Blockchain.
The formula used for 'quality of financial curation skill' is:
Curation Rewards DIVIDED BY Steem Power MULTIPLIED BY 1000
This will return the amount of Curation rewards gained per 1000 Steem Power held
The rules (which will cause auto-filtering of your account if not met so just enter anyway and see what happens!) to appear in this league:
No programmed voting! Following a trail is OK, using a script to vote for you is not (but well done if you have done that!)
Must have voted at least once on a piece of content in the past 7 days
Must not have leased or delegated Steem Power in the last 14 days
Must not have Started a Power Down (withdrawal of Steem Power) in the last 15 days
The 2nd and 3rd points above are not 'bad' actions, but are required to reduce distortion of the figures.
And, as curation rewards for the past week are actually taken from votes made up to 14 days ago, we need a two week 'window' as mentioned above.
Don't let this put you off entering though - you will be automatically be excluded/appear depending on the criteria above.
League 1 - Curating to maximize returns (Top 100)
The end column is what I think is a genuine indicator of how well you are financially working the curation game with the tools, including vested Steem Power, that you have at your disposal.
This Week's winners!
Congratulations to @algo.coder! A new entrant to the league, and so being given the benefit of the doubt this week with regards to the (obvious due to name!) possibility of some programmatical voting going on, a pretty awesome table topping score!
@algo.coder if you would like to confirm that you are / are not using code (joined trails, not fronting trails, is OK) to cast your votes, so I can make a decision to include you in next weeks L 1 results. Thank you, and well done this week :)
A fine job also by @tony19r, @crypto-econom1st, @osm0sis, @mcoinz79, @steemitri, @pataty69, @voiceoff, @mistermercury, and @coolguy123 for completing the top 10 'financial' curators this week!
All of the above will be getting some STEEM :)
League 2 - Engagement and Excellence - Write on!
This the newer league which is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.
Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations this past couple of weeks.
I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:
- Posts (P)
- Comments - number of (C)
- Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
- Comments - length in characters (C L)
- Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
- Upvotes to others (V)
- Upvotes to different authors (U V)
- Self-votes - a (getting smaller each week) minus score for this one sorry! (S V)
Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you are doing great and are among the top 20%! - Well done everyone!
Congratulations to this weeks table topper, the immovable force.... @glenalbrethsen!
I make this his 4th week in a row at the head of the League of Engagement, which is a new record, and a fantastic show of hard work and consistent high engagement. Bravo!
In 2nd with a huge amount of comment text supporting his total, @johndoer123 - John is a fairly new member and has climbed steadily since joining the leagues.
@creyestxsa94, also a fairly new member, has climbed into the top 3 from 11th last time and has 255 2nd level or deeper comments to thank for the excellent score.
Well done all 3 of you!
Excellent engagement levels and top 10 (OK, 11!) places for @lynncoyle1, @gillianpearce, @melvadg, @maverickinvictus, @themanwithnoname, @leeart, @mhm-philippines, and @bashadow who will all be receiving some STEEM this week.

If you feel that the Curation Leagues are a worthwhile addition to the Steem Blockchain, please consider a vote for our witness - @steemcommunity - https://steemit.com/~witnesses
first of all thanks @abh12345 i happened to meet this challenge and it has been a total change in my steemians life, this league managed to change the focus of my vision towards steemit and now i am part of the top 10 and that makes me very happy, you do a great job, this league is a leap to growth for each of us, God bless your ideas as well as the sponsors @carlgnash y @paulag I thank you for your continued support on the platform, today I am very moved, I achieved it and that makes for me a great Sunday, a hug for you.
To my league mates, I wish you a week of many comments and great healers! happy sunday to all
It is my pleasure support keen curators like yourself, and I'm glad the leagues have had a positive impact on you.
Well done on earning your delegation and 'cash' prize!
Congratultions @melvadg! What an awesome job you're doing :)
I think I'm blushing. Kisses for you.
haha you're sweet!
WOW!!! Thank you so much sir. I was actually wondering since you took a week off if we would have the League's this week. I'm so glad that you did. all week I was hoping that come this Sunday I would be able to see this post. It is definitely one thing that I look forward to every week since I joined your league. And it's not just because of the money or anything like that. I like being able to look at the table and see what everybody's doing.I'm not going to lie, I felt like I would do a lot better this week. But that's mainly because as I had said it seems like the place this week was very quiet. And thank you so much for the gracious delegation of more SP. As always, I will do my best to make you proud of your delegation. And also thank you what is Steem. TIME TO POWER UP!!!
Source Giphy
Also I was wondering if there's somewhere or somehow that I could see which Witnesses you voted for for me? Not that I question you, but because I respect your decision and just want to get to know the people that are witnesses on my behalf. I know that if you pick them can follow them as Witnesses they must be great people! So I would just like a chance to go see them.
Also my man, how are you feeling? Have you finally been able to see anything other than your toilet? 😁 Thank you again for everything that you're doing. And thanks for your awesome prizes. I send all of my love you are way until we meet again. And as always ask that our creator bless you.
Congratulations @johndoer123! What an awesome week you've had! It's pretty tough to beat @glenalbrethsen, that's for sure!
That's a good question asking @abh12345 where to see the list of witnesses; he is my proxy as well, and I've often wondered the same but keep forgetting to ask :)
I would have had trouble pointing you in the right direction until recently, but the link I've given John works well! :D https://steemian.info/whovotes
It does! and might I say, Nice Work Asher :)
Apparently, I'm the immovable/unstoppable force now. Kind of hard to beat something like that. :) Not sure I'm feeling like either. All it's going to take is someone with as much time as I have, who types faster (not hard) and who knows Steemit better or who knows where to find posts faster. Oh, some higher character counts. I keep hearing about how that's supposed to help. :)
Well, whatever combination of things you're doing Glen, it's working well for you, and frankly, I'm no longer trying to keep up. haha
The competitive side of me, which I try to keep under control (and mostly succeed now) is thrilled with the idea that you're not trying to keep up, while the doubt side of me (which I mostly control, too) wonders if a) you're just saying that you're not trying but really using reverse psychology, and b) that if you can basically stay in the Top 5 without even trying, I should just give up now. :)
However, the relatively rational and trusting sides of me (which I usually allow them to do their thing) say there's enough on your plate at any given time that Steemit and specifically the leagues, while fulfilling, satisfying and somewhat a distraction, is secondary to the welfare and well-being of yourself and Brian, and that I have no reason to not take you at your word.
So, that said, I just have 299-plus other people to be concerned with. :)
hahaha I was and am being sincere, but now that you say this,
I must admit there's some truth to it. I do try, but am always surprised when I see my standing in the league :)
Worry about the other 299 haha and consider me one of them maybe too :)
I don't even know who all those folks are. :) Oh, well. Just got to keep doing what I do and see what happens. It's bound to come to an end at some point.
I like it when things turn out better than expected. It means that there is still good in the world. :)
I'm a firm believer in the abundance of good in this world...just gotta look past some of the junk to see it :)
FThanks for the congratulations. You did very well too all things considered. So congratulations to you as well. I'm praying that the week is good for you.
Thank you @johndoer123; it is my escape among a lot of other things too! I appreciate your kinds words as always!
Beating @glenalbrethsen is not hard. It is impossible to my opinion. By the way @lynncoyle1 you were on top five if i am not mistaken. Great news. Keep it up
haha I think you're right about @glenalbrethsen! And thank you for the compliment :)
You are welcome. You deserve it. I envy most of you guys. It makes the competition extremely difficult.
Don't envy us; we were all once exactly in the same place you are @triplef. Time, perseverance, genuine commenting, and caring will get you where you want to go. You do all of those already, so it's just the time it takes to get there now! Don't focus on what you don't have buddy...it's a waste of time and energy :)
My pleasure John :D
Happy to hear that you are looking to Power Up the prize, investing in the platform is my favorite choice too!
As far as looking over my witness choices, I have no problem with that at all. If you put my username (or anyone else's if you wish) into the box on this page, it should tell you: https://steemian.info/whovotes
Congratulations on your engagement again this week, a clear 2nd place!
I missed this post last week, too, but I think I'm glad it wasn't there. :) You thought it seemed slower this week. I thought it was slower last week, and my numbers would have showed it.
I guess it depends on the circles we keep. Even so, you weren't that far behind me and I ran as about as fast as I could this week. Well done, and congratulations again.
@johndoer123 you have been great ever since i know you. I didn't even know you were part of this. I am happy i am into this, but i don't think i will even be on top 25 this time. I do love the initiative though. It's a great idea to grow, get experienced and interact with each-other. Hope to hear the best from you also on this week. Take care.
Well hello my dear friend. Thank you so much for the kind words. And you can do it. I know you can. And you're right it is an awesome way to get to know people here and meet new friends. It's really good to see that you are involved here these people are doing a whole lot of good. I send all my love to you and yours till next time as always my friend.
Thank you for the friendly and supportive words. I am always here, and even though it is not easy to comment, i always try to at least reply to comments. I am just in a big tunnel these days with my time, trying to get out, so forgive me if i'm late on comments and replies. I will do my best to not let you and the others down.
You are doing wonderful sir. Just keep up the good work and no one will be let down. 😀
Hi @abh12345,
Thanks for this League, it's fun !
Effectively, as my name is suggesting, my votes are being done via script (programmatically). But I am not following any trail, fronting any trail or something like that. It's done via an algorithm I designed to maximize curation rewards (I can't tell the exact way it's doing that, but it's based on historical analysis of the posts of an author, to determine if it's worth or not voting for him, and at what time exactly).
So I might be fronting trails, but not on purpose, my algorithm just detected that it was a good operation to vote at that time, I never pay attention to what happens after my votes anyway.
I don't know if it's OK or not. If not, I will give back the reward for it to go to the next winner in line.
Hi @algo.coder
I had assumed as much - It's pretty near impossible to gain a score over 5 without code :)
Unfortunately, I cannot place you in the league next time, but you are welcome to keep this weeks reward as a show of honesty.
Thank you!
OK, no problem.
It's just that I felt like I was making and following my own curation trail, more than anything.
Dura lex, sed lex
Can you just exclude me from League 1 for next times ? I'm gonna try to improve myself for League 2 (as I'm still doing a lot of manual curation, voting - aprox. 1/3 of my votes -, commenting, posting and all types of genuine participation).
Yeah, I ask for no coded voting in the post, and have removed multiple other account for the same reason.
You can certainly stay involved in league 2, cheers 👍🏾
Great job Asher... and all the participants of both leagues!
Big plastic hug to @carlgnash and @paulag for sposnoring this unique challenge!
Super performance of @voiceoff from the italian community!
Ciao ciao
Steemitri The Mannequin
Thank you @steemitri :D
I see @voiceoff has a 'double chance' today with the ITA curation league getting underway :D
Ciao for now!
Once again awesome to have this league open again Asher! And a big congrats to @glenalbrethsen now with a cool nickname of the immovable force! You have set the record now for time at the top, and I know how hard that is, so my hat is off to you for sure! Great job!
It is awesome to see @johndoer123 and @creyestxsa94 move into number's 2 and 3. I could tell when I saw their participation in the Play 4 a Newbie Challenge that both of them were going to be great engagers on their own! Congrats to both of you :)
Its also good to see @lynncoyle1 and @gillianpearce rounding out the top 5, you both are steady and amazing every week!
Thank you also for the prize of "0 votes to self - Spot Prizes", you found another way to encourage behavior that you seek! I will be donating my prize in your name to @friendsofgondor, so your prize will be further helping your fellow #stewardsofgondor members!
I also want to again thank @paulag and @carlgnash for making this league possible every week, it is very exciting to see a new batch of engagers that are now coming into their own and I think this league contributes to that happening!
I even see some new names on the list that are making themselves stand out, so I am excited to see the future as we continue to build this awesome community together!
Great job Asher and glad to have you back for sure! :)
Yes I hope Glen likes his new nickname and doesn't think of it being too literal :D
It's always nice to see new names mixed in with the regulars, and it gives me a good chance to share out a little delegation each week. I'm trying to get my account to 10k SP 'in use', having recently passed that (huge!) milestone of ownership - we shall see if I can do that whilst delegating a little each time.
The Spot prizes just came to mind on the day when I saw 6/7 in the 11/20 range who's not voted for themselves and done well enough to earn something. I hope the small prize 'offsets' the lack of votes to self and think in some cases it's actually more than the personal reward would have been.
Here's to a good week for us all, cheers!
Just for the record, I could certainly be called for worse, so, thanks for the kind nickname, and no, I'm not taking it literally. I have to say, though, I've heard of the immovable object and the irresistible force, so does that mean you've combined both here? :) Just clarifying here. :)
haha, I guess so! You are the complete package, and going nowhere it seems!
I knew he would like the new nickname IF... and awesome on crossing 10k SP that is amazing... As far as usable, if you keep giving it out to people like me to use, it will make it much harder to reach your goal... The good thing though is the longer it takes to make the tree grow high, the more that the tree base grows wide. You are building a very strong base for sure!
Here's your sticker for hitting that milestone!!!
I wrote a post about this, right? You can pick your friends but you can't pick your nicknames. :)
Sad thing is, I was really trying to up my comment count, which I did, but it came at the expense of the character count, which wasn't so good. Made it much closer than I like it to be. Plus, I'm trying to get up to 50,000 points, not keep dropping. So, whatever my strategy was last week has to change for this week, or it's only going to get worse.
I am glad to be a part of these leagues, and I'm glad that I could set the standard a little higher. Maybe I'll move it some more. Maybe not. Meeting my match could come sooner than later. And I probably won't see it coming, even if I am swiveling as fast as I can. :)
You did and I remember it well... I like the new nickname though, and your abbreviate is IF.. :P
And I haven't payed as much attention to your strategy, but you are definitely setting the bar higher... I love that you have been able to maintain that level for a solid month.
I do think you need to stay on your toes as #2 and #3 are new and climbing fast, and both of them are very competitive as I saw during the Play 4 a Newbie Challenge
I can see they're pretty competitive just by the number of comments and the CL. Well, it wouldn't be the first time I guess. Just got to keep plugging along and see what happens. Not sure I know how else to do this.
My strategy was to try and comment more this week, since I've been hovering mostly in the range of high 200s to low 300s. This time I commented more than I ever have, but the CL was lower than it has been in weeks. So, apparently, I let that slip trying to comment more. Need to find that happy balance between the two. One kind of drives the other, it seems.
IF, hunh? Not sure if that quite works, but maybe I can come up with a scenario where it does. Here comes IF. Hide! I don't know. I'll work on it.
lol... IF is what we all have to compete against. If we want to win, then we need to be better than IF. The IF is very strong, so we need to either up our game if we want to be the IF, or we need the IF to get weaker or bored.
Not sure it works yet either, but I will keep at it until I find a way to make it stick.
Because that is, after all the important part: Making IF stick. :)
lol... I have a feeling that IF is going to live up to that nickname! And while I didn't name it, I'm happy to promote it! :)
Thanks Dave, and congratulations to you as well. Glen, the novelist, is truly unstoppable!
I agree, he is the Immovable Force :) ... and you will always be the Queen of Gondor in my eyes, so don't feel bad :P
and you my King :)...of gondor that is. Just in case Glen reads this because he is the king as well :)
haha... yes there is a need to hedge here on this one... The IF is going to be there for awhile so you don't want to p..s him off ;)
hahaha hedging it is!
just don't tell him... I will keep it a secret just between us... Neither of us have to let IF know.
haha I'm still chuckling with "IF" :)
In case I read this. Of course, I'll read it!
If I were actually playing into this whole royalty thing, I'd be saying something like. "My spies are everywhere, ever listening, ever reporting anyone that ever bespeaks my name. For good or ill. And I will respond to every mention. Eventually." :)
But, I'm not really buying into the whole royalty gig, so if Dave wants to be king of the leagues and you the queen, or if you want to switch it up and be kings and queens of other things, hey, go for it.
As it is, I have enough of time trying to be the king of my own personal castle. Remember the Mexican food decree fiasco? Yeah, that.
haha Glen. It's Sunday and here we are... full circle buddy :)
Hold on here. It's not Sunday yet. I've still got another 14 hours or so before Saturday is more or less over. I know it's Saturday because my Macbook says it is. So does my iPhone. So, let's not short me the day, okay? 😬
I realized that this morning. Actually in the wee hours of the morning because I've been up with a stomach flu or bad taco. Enjoy your day, but I'm out for now! :)
Okay, so much going on here that I'm putting the wrong replies under the wrong comments, so I'm editing this.
I was the not-so-novelist this week. Comments up. Characters down. Not good. So, need to try to do something about this week, even if I'm only trying to be complete.
It's cool to see all the new competition. Just getting too close for comfort. :)
Oh my goodness, please don't up the ante anymore than it already is!! :)
You actually might want me upping the ante, because each time I try it, the numbers actually go down. It's the time or two that I was actually trying to back off that thing ballooned. Not at all sure how that's suppose to work, but whatever. I'm not used to doing things that logically do one thing but have the inverse result. I'm not captain counter intuitive. :)
haha there's your next graphic novel hero, Captain Counter Intuitive !! Ohhh the possibilities :)
Captain Counter Intuitive arrives at the scene of a tense stand off between police and armed bank robbers with hostages. "What are you doing?" says the chief of police, as CCI saunters by.
"I'm going in there."
"They've already said they will shoot all of the hostages. We can't risk it."
"It's okay. I have an active thermonuclear bomb strapped to my chest, set to go off if they kill me."
"You're crazy! Get back here! That's insane!"
"Insane enough to work."
hahahaha I knew you wouldn't be able to resist!! :)
Thank you Mr. @davemccoy to have me convinced in joining this league, and i thank all of you who drove me towards the understanding of the true steemit community. I say true, because it was in this community that i was able to find people who really care to communicate, offer a helping hand with the only interest of participation. I am glad i am seeing you more here Dave, but sorry that i am somehow absent myself.
I already made my post, but i would like to express my gratitude to @paulag and @carlgnash who are investing so much to make this league a great community gathering friends and helping us all grow stronger. There are so many names i could thank here, for showing me how to blog, interact, ins and outs of posting etc. I thank you all and hope to connect soon with each single one of you.
From @triplef
I am confident you are really going to make a lot of friends here @triplef! Don't worry about how much time you are able to spend, just keep being yourself and you will fit right in!
I still don't worry about curation rewards. That's a small part of what I make. I have concerns that people support posts because they will get good votes from others and not because they deserve more rewards. Minnows will have to work fairly hard to make a couple of SBD a week just from voting unless they automate it and then they are not taking account of quality. I realise it's an extra source of income, but just making good comments can make them more and build their following. I'm really not bothered if minnows vote for me as long as they sincerely engage in the conversations. I'm looking for that and not flattery :)
Absolutely. I spend much time pointing out that a good comment in the right place will earn you the equivalent of weeks/months of curation rewards as a minnow.
I run the first league because people are interested and find it fun, but it's the 2nd league that i pay the most attention to by way of $ rewards and delegation.
Cheers Steve, have a good day.
I see some people I know on the 2nd one. I wondered if I would be on it :)
Looks like @abh12345 added you to the lists, so welcome aboard. I've seen you commenting in a lot of places, so I'm sure you will do very well here. Maybe even too well. Hmmmm.
No. The more the merrier. :)
It's by request, and I will take that as a request of sorts - you will be next week :D
I completely agree with you here Asher and you have done a wonderful job of leading people with the way you structured your league! :)
I don't like automation and i don't support it. I have seen many automated posts and really don't know what people expect of that. As of making a couple of SBD a week, i have to say for myself i am happy to even reach 1 SBD a week. It is truly hard the first weeks you start off. I agree, making comments it's far more profitable, because you also get to interact with other people. Many posts have no comments and therefore no interaction whatsoever. I am glad i am here, interacting with many steemians whether new or already settled. Great to connect with you and everybody else.
I enjoy the human interaction here. That's what people want from other sites. Steemit should not just be about money
I totally agree with you. I have seen a few contests similar to this league, which are trying to bring people together and show that this is a community, not just another facebook or instagram trying to post a photo and wait till you see how many likes you take. That is silly if you think that someone is quitting steemit because they are posting some photos without contest and asking themselves why they are not making money, not realizing that the universal human relationship is give and take. You have to give in order to take, and that goes around. I am glad to have made some friends here, but i realize i still have to do a lot in that perspective.
Oh wow and here I thought I was having an off week because I was kinda busy with another project that I am involved in and was not commenting in a lot of posts outside of my own.
Good thing was I am up to date to replys to comments made on my own posts bad thing I have neglected a lot of commenting outside and seeing I had only 18 2nd level comments. That is one aspect I would really want to work on the coming weeks. Hopefully I will have more time hahaha or I would need to invest in cloning technology.
Congratulations again to Glen as usual for commenting up novels hahaha your score is almost double of mine hahahahha.
I'm impressed with Lynn's number of votes! You have to tell me your secret! I want to reach those numbers although with the dust threshold and all I had to dial down on the numbers.
I truly believe that this league is important to the platform. Engagement will make sure that we don't end up a ghost town of upvote bots and just curation trails that people set automatic votes.
We need people to come online, read, curate and engage people. Only then will we keep our promising people writing their best pieces.
I would not be surprised if @lynncoyle1 will be at the top this week. It is incredible what she does.
Oh yes definitely Lynn will take it one of these days.
It is not speculation but the truth ahhaha
Thank you for the vote of confidence @leeart...you too @maverickinvictus :) I comment a lot, but just don't have the strength to keep up with Glen the novelist :)
I think @johndoer123 is keeping up. Go for it! :D
Congratulations to you @maverickinvictus! There is no beating our favorite novelist, is there? :) And I've been fortunate to have been delegated by Asher, hitmeasap and I "won" a contest some time ago by inquiringminds, so I really use all that steem power to help me give more upvotes. I'm also a judge in @thedarkhorse's Pay it Forward Curation contest and upvote all the entries. It's a struggle to keep my VP up, that's for sure; I too was shocked by the number of upvotes I had this week :)
I noticed that big uptick in the number of upvotes. Wow. Especially when there's the old dust payout threshold to watch out for! Nice, though. Way to spread the abundance.
I'm beginning to wonder if it was an error somewhere :)
Really? I keep track of my votes and they were dead on this week, as usual. Comments were a couple off, but that could easily be my error since I'm adding them up from a list on steemworld rather than pulling them as a number off of a database. At any rate, getting to over 400 different accounts to upvote them at least once, and some at least multiple times is an amazing feat, too. :)
I never keep track of any of that stuff, but I've had at least four people mention the quantity of upvotes I've made, and it doesn't feel like I'm doing any more than usual, so that lead me to wonder if there'd been an error somewhere. Next week will tell since I'd say I'm keeping the same pace more or less.
Nice. We're in the middle of an experiment.
I keep track because otherwise I end up thinking I'm doing more than I really am. Where as doing less works for everyone else, I really end up doing less. So keeping track of votes and comments has helped. I might need to keep track of CL, too, because mine was low. I'd say my CL became your votes, but I'm not sure how that translates at all. :)
My head naturally does not work in the analytical state, so it wouldn't even cross my mind to keep track and cross check my stats weekly. I guess that means I'm happy with my current state of affairs...that, and I don't have time to do it, or I'm choosing not to do in the time that I have. Either way, if you want to track my stats... :)
kidding Glen!
Still hanging in there Mav even when you think you haven't done well - your self-expectations are high!
Realistically, top 20/30 each week is excellent, the table toppers put in a huge amount of work and time, that many users just don't have.
I'd like to be able to reward as far down the list as possible, think the first 20 collected something this week.
Cheers!
I feel like I have been selfish because I don't go out as much and comment but still read a lot.
I feel bad when I don't leave comments. Yeah I don't think I can get anywhere to the level of Glen and I do hopefully wish he would join curie hahahahahaa
Might want to save some words from your awesome posts for your comments, if you need them. That would boost your CL. :)
Now, of course, you could stop writing posts, and then I wouldn't have as many places to make a comment, let alone a novel. I've told you before. You make it easy for me to comment. So, it's your fault I'm writing novels for comments is what I'm saying. :) Okay, it's more of shared blame, but still. :)
Thank you Asher for hosting this contest and of course for your gift of steem in my wallet. I really didn't think I'd be anywhere near the top 10 this week, so this was a really nice surprise.
Congratulations to you, @glenalbrethsen, @johndoer123, and @creyestxsa94, @gillianpearce, @melvadg, @maverickinvictus, @themanwithnoname, @leeart, @mhm-philippines, and @bashadow , and to everyone else on this list!
Have an awesome week Ash, and I hope you are feeling better :)
Ash, congrats to you and thank you for your good wishes!
Daddy William
You are welcome Lynn :)
Whilst you may have thought'd you'd be lower, I didn't have much doubt at all :D
I'm feeling much better, here's to a good week!
aww thanks Asher! So glad you've got my back...even when I don't ;)
Thank you, and another congratulations to you. I'm really amazed at all you're able to accomplish. :)
Thank you Glen...I amaze myself sometimes haha
Thank you for extending the list to eleven, since I was number eleven. It has been a pretty busy week, Hope you are feeling a bit better, those virus things can be nasty. I need to try to get back to commenting a bit more, I had a lot of votes that I did not get around to commenting on, and that is one of the things that I normally do not do, vote and no comment, but some things happen I guess.
Congratulation @glenalbrethsen on setting the standard. 4 weeks, that is going to be a tough one for people to catch.
@johndoer123 and @creyestxsa94 congrats to you two also, awesome job on both of your parts. And to everyone else, wonderful to see how much we are all engaging in the community, I for one am very happy to be a part of this league.
Just the top ten people - 3787 comments and 4333 votes. Thats a lot of commenting and voting, and that is just the first level comments. Simply amazing.
That may have been part of my decision why ;)
The participants are what make the leagues and the stats are pretty awesome. It was really cool to show them to other Steem accounts looking to delegate out to users doing their bit for the community and then for some to receive nice delegations the other week.
Thank you, I'm feeling much better now!
Congratulations @bashadow...I read Asher's response to you; I love the number 11 now :)
Thank you, @bashadow. I'd like to extend the weeks a little farther, but we'll see. There's plenty of competition going on, and with new people being added every week, there's always the element of surprise. I can't keep up with everything everyone is doing, so it's just easier to put my head and down and run. Congratulations with being added into the Top 10, I mean, 11. :)
Yes it was nice of him, and of the people that helped him reward more people, increases in pay-outs, and surprise rewards, I thought that was rather nice of him. I am going to try to up my game this week a little bit see if I can re crack the top ten, I did a lot of voting last week, but no where near my normal commenting, was just so busy. But it is spring, and the bees is being busy, so when the weather is nice got to enjoy it, winter is coming, again, all to soon.
Thank you for the comment, it reminded me to pop over to your page, and then I see Dragrosa's 30 day challenge, I may make a few entries, at the very least I will likely drop some comments on the ones that interest me.
Oh, yeah. The 30 Day Writing Challenge has been great. Quite a few people participating with I'd say good posts, too. I had to sit out on the one about five cryptos I have, because I don't have more than STEEM, and really no interest in them. One is more than enough, as volatile as they are. I guess I found my risk aversion limit. :)
Well, as long as you were a good busy, as opposed to a boring busy or a rather-do-anything-else busy, then I'd say you were productive and that it was worth it. I look forward to seeing how you do this week, then, when you're not so busy with other things.
Oh, I am still going to be busy with other things, but this week if I vote, I speak. Last week due to time pressures, I missed a lot of commenting. Tried to also help out some dust votes, so those did not get any thing said on them, but this week I think if I run across any again I may just say screw it and sound like a robot and mention it to the ones I raise up, but a few of the people I mentioned it to did not like me doing that, and one called me a vote police, (I muted that person), so still not sure how I am going to handle it, cause I don't want the voter to feel bad about giving a vote, and I don't want to sound like a Judge,Jury, and executioner of their voting habits. So I just have to play it by ear. (I wonder where that phrase originated)?
Oh, okay. I ran across one of the posts you were trying to tell people about the dust threshold. If I remember right, their reactions were more to them self-upvoting, which wasn't your point. Oh, well. What can you do? If people don't want to listen, or misunderstand, there's only so much time you can spend explaining yourself.
Play it by ear? Or judge, jury and executioner? Play it by ear is actually related to music, which makes sense. Being able to play based on what you hear rather than by notes. I looked up the origination. Looks like it was first used in 1839 in a newspaper comparing two women (not sure what they were doing, but apparently something to do with music), while the wider use of it didn't come into play (literally and figuratively) until maybe the 1930s, in another newspaper talking about the Brooklyn Dodgers, whom the writer thought 'played by ear' as opposed to, I guess, playing with a plan. :)
Leave it Brooklyn to do things differently. I wonder how many times that bridge has been sold.
