If you do not face bad thoughts, they can torment you for days, weeks or months. In general, these arise when you least expect it, if you analyze too much the situations or if you consider that someone has offended you in a disguised way. Bad thoughts cause pain, but they are natural, and there are ways in which the brain deals with them.

  • Keep in mind that it is normal to have bad thoughts from time to time. This is probably the only (and easiest) way to start solving your problems. In general, we think that we are the only ones who have problems or that nobody understands our situation.

  • Reflect on what makes this thought "bad". What bothers you about this thought? Why can not you stop thinking about him? In general, feelings of guilt, anger or uncertainty about the future make bad thoughts persist. Therefore, if you reflect on the reason why you can not stop having this thought, you will be able to define it and determine in what way you will be able to solve the problem.

  • Breathe deeply a couple of times to stop your thoughts. It is normal to feel anxiety or nervousness when our mind suddenly has a bad thought; however, you should avoid the need to bother yourself. Leave what you are doing for 30 seconds and give 5 deep and long breaths. Instead of reaching irrational or extreme conclusions, take a moment to face the thought.
