Mississippi River 50-foot deepening gets $85M this year, promised another $45.7M by Trump

Sediment dredged from the lower river will be used to build about 2.2 square miles of new wetlands in the federal Delta National Wildlife Refuge and the state's Pass A Loutre Wildlife Management Area.

Interesting article about the planned dredging of the Mississippi River and the impact it might bring. As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing about this is that some of the sediment will be used to build wetlands. Other than that, deepening the River doesn't help the delta, it just shoots the river water and sediment straight out into the Gulf. Sad.....
