Meet the Block Producer -- EOS 42

Foreword:
As a worldwide community, we think BPCs who makes contribution to EOS ecology should be well known by EOS token holders, so we create a catalog to introduce foreign BP candidates on the homepage of our main blog and also open this topic on among most famous Chinese blockchain medias.

We have already introduced more than 20 overseas BPCs to Chinese community. These articles will aslo be presented on steemit.

@EOS Cannon:Who are you & When was your BP candidacy announced?

@EOS 42:我們都是在電報群上面認識的,David和Charles住在倫敦,Sean在首爾, Liam在多倫多。很快我們意識到我們每個人的價值觀都挺相似,所以我們一起在一月份的時候組建了EOS42。

We basically met each other on Telegram, David and Charles are located in London, Sean’s in Seoul and Liam’s in Toronto. We soon realized that we all share a similar values set, and EOS42 was formed in January 2018.

@EOS42: EOS42將為通過高性能並可靠的網絡設備、投資擴展性能、保護EOS代幣之價值以及激勵社區來創建一個健康並可持續發展的生態系統為宗旨來成為一個保護EOS網絡的護衛天使。

EOS42 aim to be the guardians who protect the EOS network. This will be through high performance, reliable network support, investing to enable it to scale, protecting EOS token value and empowering the community to create a healthy and sustainable ecosystem.

@EOS Cannon:团队成员有哪些? A brief introduction of your team core members?

@EOS42:

David is our head of strategy and community, he leads the strategic planning and development for EOS42 block production, including operations relating to community-led expansion requirements, capital investments, finance and legal. David co-founded EOS42 after helping build the EOS community in London and organising the recent meetups. His career in management consultancy and asset management in London was for a range of global institutions in areas covering FinTech, business strategy and programme management. David studied economics and business systems analysis and design, and is a decentralist with a passionate belief in the potential of blockchain to change the world by increasing personal freedoms and reducing inequality.

Charles is our head of Technology/Infrastructure, he leads the technology efforts at EOS42 and is designing our infrastructure that will support the EOS.IO economy. He has spent the past 20 years honing his skills in all matters of IT, from designing high performance VDI clusters to maintaining a 4000 node networking cluster for a leading business centre provider. He has spend time working as a security penetration tester and dabbles in Python development. In his lifetime he started a starfish type organisation called BOMelakiesie and for a time hosted the Burning man Afrika's website. He has extensive experience with programming, performance monitoring, increasing efficiency and web services. He participated in the launch of the EOS Dawn 3.0 community test net and is excited to see the world change for the better.

Sean is our head of Korea, Sean has more than 10 years of experiences in banking, finance, and urban engineering. He began his career as an account manager with the largest bank in Canada and operated various businesses both in Korea and Canada. Sean got into EOS while pursuing his Ph.D. degree in urban planning focusing on smart city. He believes implementing blockchain technology into smart cities will change our daily lives with its secure and trustless transactions and he also believes EOS is “The Platform” scalable enough to excel. As an urban planner with multi-cultural backgrounds (lived in U.S., Canada, currently based in Korea), Sean’s role in EOS would be just same as what an urban planners do. - Listen, Understand, and Implement what community wants. Sean thinks his uniqueness will enable him to communicate and understand what EOS community needs as a whole and to implement plans accordingly.

Liam is our head of operations for China and South America, he has lived in 3 different continents in the past 20 years and he speaks fluent English, Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). His skills include Community engagement and communication, whitepaper translation/editing and public speaking. And some of his interests are: the philosophy of blockchain, human civilization, chemistry, quantum mechanics, game theory and the science of human interactions. Carrying full of confusion and skepticism, he joined the blockchain and cryptocurrencies sphere in December 2017, and since then he had been mind-blown away by this new technological movement and how it could change our world for the better. Being a millennial with STEM background, he wants to inspire more of his peers to get involved in this frontier of digital revolution in his time away from school. And also, he is a proud EOS hodler.

@EOS Cannon: 节点的特点是什么,希望大家了解的独特之处在哪里?What is unique about your candidacy, what do you want people to remember you for?

@EOS 42: EOS42的獨特之處在於我們是一個采用Chama結構的組織。這也就是指我們團隊裏各個隊員都對各自瞭解,而且每個核心隊員都是在一個,我們各自都尊重個人價值觀以及個人責任觀,并且認爲意見衝突是一個用於繁生創新思想的最好工具。

What is unique about EOS42 is that we’re an organization that adopted the Chama structure. That means, all of our team members know each other, and every core member collaborates in an environment that every member can share their own personal opinion. This allow us to tackle future challenges from many angles. And we thrive to respect each other’s individual values and responsibilities. We believe collision of ideas is the best instrument to create innovative thoughts.

@EOS Cannon: EOS 42预计主要为EOS生态在哪些方面作出贡献?设想过哪些方法可以让EOS TOKEN增值?Which areas you will contribute to the global EOS ecosystem and how do you propose to further increase the value of EOS token?

@EOS 42: 簡單來説,我們現在最注重的方面就是盡力的多舉辦有教育性的MeetUp,參與開發一些對整個社區都有益的dApp(比如Chintai),向測試網貢獻,以及宣傳我們認爲對EOS生態系統有益的價值觀吧,還有我們也在計劃在多倫多,倫敦,首爾建立 [EOS42孵化器] 以幫助商業把實體經濟連接到EOS上面來。如果未來中國政府對電子貨幣的政策有所改變,我們也將會在中國建立類似的商業孵化器。

Generally speaking, at the moment we’re focusing on hosting meetups that have educational purposes, participate in the development of dApp (for example: Chintai), contribute to the testnet, and propagate values what we believe are good for the EOS ecosystem. Additionally, we’re planning to establish EOS42 Incubators in London, Toronto, and Seoul to help businesses to adopt EOSIO technology. Looking into the future, if the Chinese government change their cryptocurrency policy, we will also be creating an incubator in China mainland.

@EOS Cannon: BP的竞选纲领是什么?What is your BP election plan?

@EOS 42: 我們覺得刻意地去拉票是沒有意義的。在主網上綫之前,我們覺得最有意義的事情就是舉辦綫下聚會吧(有教育性的聚會,純拉票的聚會也是沒意義的)。我們并沒有一個制定的纲领。我們覺得靈活性在區塊鏈領域是很重要的,這個領域特別是EOS還是很年輕,如何能夠靈活地伸展拳脚是一個非常重要的技能。

We believe that candidacy selling is useless. Before mainnet launch, we believe that one of the most meaningful things to do is to host meetups with educational purpose. (and not meetups that sell our candidacy, or irrational EOS “shilling”). We don’t have a firm plan. We believe that being spontaneous is very important in the blockchain space, in this space, especially EOSIO it’s still very young, how can we agilely manage the rapid changes is a very important skill to have.

@EOS Cannon: 通过哪些渠道中国用户可以关注到你们的竞选动态?是否想入驻币乎或其他中文平台,有没有来中国路演或meetup的打算?

@EOS 42: Where can Chinese community members get updates on your BP election progress? Do you have a plan to publish on some Chinese sites (Bihu.com or other sites), Do you have a road trip/meet up plan to China?
我們在中文社區主要的社區網絡渠道是微博,因爲我們是在海外的,所以也無法建立微信公衆群以及幣乎賬號。還有就是IMEOS也在對中文社區宣傳英文社區的動態,不過我們也知道他們是一個中立的EOS信息平臺,我們對他們的中立性保持著最高的尊重。

關於中國路演,我們想在主網上綫后才對此計劃。中國有著大量的EOS持幣者,所以如果我們得選這將會是我們的優先事務之一。

Our main social network account for the Chinese community is Weibo, because we’re outside of China mainland, we can’t create WeChat public account nor BiHu account. Also, IMEOS is covering some of the movements from the English community, but we’re aware that they’re an independent EOS news portal, and we respect their neutrality.
About road trip plan to China, we’re planning to sort it out after mainnet’s launch. There’s a great deal of token holders in China, so this will be one of our priorities once we’re elected.

@EOS Cannon: 目前中国涌现出来大量的BP候选人,你们对此怎么看?What is your view on ~30% of Chinese BP candidates recently?

@EOS 42: 因爲中國人口多,也是一個區塊鏈與電子貨幣科技的大國 (雖然近期政策有所更改),高參與率是必然的。我們EOS42也並沒有在中國做過綫下聚會,所以我們覺得我們是沒有足夠的信息來對這個情況作詳細評論的。高參與率並不完全代表著高得選率,我們EOS42還是相信通過投票程序,社區將會抉擇這個問題。我們相信EOS社區將會建立一個分散並為全球人類服務的區塊鏈。

Because of the high population of China, the high participation rate is a very obvious occurrence, and China is also one of the leading nation in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. (despite all the crackdowns) We EOS42 have never done meetup in China, so we believe that we don’t have enough information to judge the details of this situation either. High participation rate doesn’t necessary mean high elected rate, we believe in the voting mechanism, and that the community will decide on this matter. We believe that the EOS community will create and build a decentralised network that will serve the humanity.

@EOS Cannon: 在你们看来,什么样的BP会赢得你们社区的支持?From your perspective, What kind of BP will win support from your community?

@EOS 42: EOS42 對為全球社區服務的BP都很敬佩,以下是一些我們比較看重的能力:

  • 能夠靈活並利落地把握BP之獨立性與其他方的合作關係之間的衝突。
  • 能過保持廉正并且一直在和社區保持著溝通的。
  • 能過在不宣傳分紅的情況下拉票的。
  • 能夠保持EOS區塊鏈網絡之安全性的。
  • 能夠保持MeetUp主題是有教育價值和中立的,并且不使用任何無良營銷手段的。

EOS42 admire all BPs that are working hard on contributing to the worldwide EOS community, below are some of the capabilities we value the most:

  • Able to manage the collusion between BP independence and collaborating partners agilely and with confidence.
  • Able to stay integral and stay in touch with the community.
  • Able to get supports without using/advertising any pay-for-vote scheme.
  • Able to secure the EOSIO network.
  • Able to maintain the neutrality and educational quality of the contents delivered to the audience in meetups, and that they don’t use any unethical marketing strategy.

@EOS Cannon: 想对EOS Cannon和其他中国社区的EOS参与者说什么?What else you want to say to EOS Cannon and other Chinese EOS community members?

@EOS 42: 我們還是願望代幣持有者能夠獨立並負責任地思考與判讀各個候選人的好壞并為EOS的未來着想吧。我們的這個提議也不衹是是對中國社區説的,也是我們EOS42一直在向全球EOS社區努力宣傳的一個價值觀。
We think one of our biggest wishes is that token holder can think critically and individually, and that they can preoccupy for the future of EOSIO. We also want to address that this wish is not only dedicated to the Chinese community, but also to the broader global community.
