Great choice, MEW is one of the wallets EOSIO/blockone recommends. However you still must register your MEW wallet else you might find yourself will a bag of worthless old erc20 tokens come June whatever it is. There are instructions on eos.io but I enjoyed this video guide . You're going to need a VPN to access the page on eos.io with the tool that will map your wallet to the eos keys. I used a free one called Hola VPN that worked great, it's a Google chrome extension.
