Post Match Analysis : EG vs TNC & TeamLiquid vs iG.V (Dota2 The International Day 1 Results)
Evil Geniuses (North America) vs TnC Pro Team (Philippines)
Last year's Giant Slayer TnC Pro team against one of the all time best Evil Geniuses marked the start of Day one of the TI7's groupstage.
First game of a best of two series, Evil Geniuses managed to snatch 2 of their most prized hero - Faceless void and Lycan which most people thought would seal the deal right away, however TnC fought valiantly also being able to get 2 of their signature core heroes which are Queen of Pain and Juggernaut. TnC managed to get the momentum of the game on its early stages as they have a very effective roam on their Nightstalker which was being played by TIMS one of Philippines best support player. However, as the time ticks longer, and as Evil Geniuses began to gather as 5, the effectiveness of TnC's line up started to crumble. The deciding factor of that is the fact that Evil Geniuses' line up, with a Lycan on their hand can push faster also considering that they both have a support kunkka and oracle which can both render TnC's batrider helpless. Evil Geniuses managed to take Roshan, and continued putting pressure on the TnC's side gaining more control over the map. Evil Geniuses continued riding that momentum and sealed the game 1 at exactly 36:10.
Game 1 Highlights :
The pressure was on TnC as they proceed with the Game 2 of a best of 2 series. Everyone thought it's over, and it would end in a 2-0 in favor of EG. However, TnC once again proved them wrong, TnC managed to snatch a win against one of the powerhouses of the league. TnC tied the series Being led by Raven, with an outstanding performance as Phantom Assassin rallying a score of 19/0/8. As for my thoughts, Evil Geniuses lost this game because there was really no one in their line up to receive the damage of Phantom Assassin, and they couldn't end the game early, as what they were expecting based on their line up which is an all range line up, relying on the Physical damage boost of Drow Ranger's aura.
Team Liquid (Europe) vs Invictus Gaming Vitality (China)
As for Liquid vs iG.V, Liquid managed to take down iG.V 2-0 in a best of two series. iG.V did great, they fought toe to toe with one of the best team in the league. However, Liquid managed to snatch game one, with a game changing clash on 36:49 wherein they were able to pick off the Sven of iG.v in the top lane and managed to Kill roshan and get the aegis for Miracle's Troll Warlord, with that they were able to push out top lane and mid lane at ease, and managed to take game one from iG.V. Liquid's line up really focused on the mid, wherein they sealed Sakata's Storm Spirit and gave Miracle's Troll Warlord an early 4/0/0 advantage just 5 mins in the game which bear its fruit in the mid game to late game.
As for the 2nd game, iG.v was having the advantage, they were riding the momentum trying to close the game. However, Miracle's Invoker is just causing too much problem for them not allowing them to close the game, Until a game changing Chronosphere by Matumbaman's Faceless void at 40:20 turned the game around to Liquid's favor wherein they managed to kill the two cores of iG.V and managed to push all the barracks resulting to a Mega creeps. That didn't stop iG.v from fighting though, they fought bravely, however, they didn't manage to hold the line, trying to fight Liquid with mega creeps is just too much.
