Footie Talks - Liverpool VS Bayern Munich

The recent match between Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the 1st Leg of the Champions League Last Sixteen ends up with a 0 - 0 draw. But, instead of being a boring game (as both teams failed to score), it was actually a very entertaining game to watch, I believe even the neutrals would have been entertained by the classy football shown by both teams.

The first 15 minutes of the first half of the match goes to Bayern Munich, their passing and ball control from the goalkeeper to the defense, midfield and the attacking players are so crisp and accurate, Liverpool was unable to repossessed the ball away from them even when they tried to press for it.

Both Bayern's Attacking Wingers, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry was absolutely marvelous to watch as they penetrated Liverpool's Fullbacks with their pace and trickery. It was no surprise to see that Bayern was almost on the scoresheet from a slick move initiated from the Right Wing by Gnabry. His low cross in front of Liverpool's Goalpost was poked towards the goalmouth by Liverpool's own player, Joel Matip, but fortunately it bounced directly towards the Goalkeeper, Allison Becker. Coman and Gnabry is an absolute fun to watch, their close ball control , feint and trickery is amazing.

After the 20 minutes mark, it was Liverpool all the way. They began to find their rhythm and controlled the match and ball possession little by little. The best chances fell to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to break the deadlock, but both players fluffed their chances, especially Mane who could have done better with his effort. Bayern Munich has no real chances whatsoever to score any goals as the Liverpool's defense became more resolute.

The second half was a bit dull affair as Bayern defense sits deep and only attacks occasionnally through a counter. Liverpool tried their best to create chances but always being thwarted by the Bayern Munich's defensive midfield and defense line. Bayern is more content to just pass the ball around and frustrates the Liverpool players and fans. At the end of the Final Whistle, it was a stalemate.

It'll takes another three weeks before the 2nd Leg commence on the 13th March. Liverpool must be a bit wary of the return leg, and must be pondering and blaming themselves for not getting the allusive goals when given the chances. Unlike this game at Anfield, the Germans will be playing a more attacking type of football on their own turf. It will be a massive match, as Liverpool themselves will not be content to just sit around and defend.It's a match that both teams still has the chance to win. It's going to be an explosive one.
