The Rose Symbols In Culture, Religion And Sufism
The symbolism of roses not only depicts love and sincerity.
In a strong sense, roses signal something greater than one's love for man or the world.
On the other hand, Sufis and other religious imams hint at the great relationship between man and his God, these are written in earlier texts and poems of famous Sufis in the Middle Ages.
Allah created thousands of flowers, but roses remain a favorite throughout human history and have assumed a very colorful meaning among different cultures.
Why roses look eternal in the heart, perhaps because humans are able to retain the memory of the roses found in the soul.
It may also be an unforgettable poem, as well as a story of love and virtue attached to roses.
#The symbol of roses in culture and religion
The symbol of the rose began to be known since 5000 years ago, according to some opinions already known in China from the fossil record that explains the rose has grown for millions of years.
In all regions of the world, roses grow and become certain symbols such as love, beauty, luxury, death, even war and politics, who use roses to represent famous personalities in history.
When entering the period of the Roman Empire, roses flourished in the Middle East.
The fragrance of the rose makes it the main ingredient of perfume making, the strong aroma is considered to have profound mystical meaning.
But the roses that grow in China do not smell like that, and this is probably one of the reasons why the rose is not so popular in China.

Since the first symbol of roses has been used in literary writing, for example in Iliad literature, an ancient Greek epic poem that mentions his body smeared with rose oil.
The roses are often mentioned in ancient Greek myths in different forms.
For example, white symbolizes the purity that symbolizes Aphrodite and the symbol of purity, desire and spirit addressed to Adonis, while the wounded love is represented by a few drops of blood that transforms a white rose into a red rose.
Another myth suggests that Zeus is spreading roses on the ground as Eros and Psyche's wedding gifts.
The myth of the Romans is often represented by the symbol of roses, they use roses in the cemetery as a sign of awakening.
For example Flora as the goddess of flowers and spring, some opinions say that she creates roses and other Greek gods help Flora give life, sweet scent and beautiful shape.
Christians use red roses as a symbol of the spirit of Jesus, martyrdom and resurrection, aimed at Mary and the symbol of purity associated with white roses.
The form of roses implies the liturgy, for example in the poem mentioning Mary surrounded by roses written in Wordsworth's book of 1807.
The literature on Mary is often written with fragrant roses petal roses, the glass window picturing the Virgin Mary shows her holding roses, it is the underlying that the rose is well-scented.
#Roses And Sufism
In the seventh century, Muhammad was symbolized by roses so that the popularity of roses increased a thousandfold after his arrival.
The personality of the apostle illuminates the color of the rose and the perfect morality is the source of the aroma.
One satuny Farid Ad-Din Attar, the greatest mystic poet of 1230 wrote in his book 'The Rose Garden';
#In the bed of roses, the mystery shines. The secret is hidden in roses
Hazrat Inayat Khan (1882-1927) says, the rose consists of several petals that blend together, so that the Sufi soul exhibits different qualities.
This quality radiates the aroma of spiritual personality.
The rose has a beautiful structure, the Sufi has a subtle structure, a way of connecting with others through speech, action, and so on.
Just like perfume of perfume roses that permeate the whole room, a Sufi penetrates society and helps solve problems. Quran Ar-Rahman 55: 37-38 mentions the red rose:
And when the heavens have split and become roses like oil (shine). Then which favors of your Lord do you deny?
Roses have different shapes and roses are created for significant reasons.
In Islamic tradition, wearing perfume is a food for the soul and spirit. One hadith narrates that the prophet loves a good aroma, and the Muslim tradition often uses the pure essence of rose water, especially before the prayer.
Roses are one of the heavenly scents, the essence of roses has several aromatherapeutic advantages among them as a strong anti-depressant and able to calm the mind.
The rose is made up of several petals, the culmination of spiritual symbolization for almost all the Sufis and God's guardians, especially Syech Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani.
In a story told when he was in the city of Baghdad, he was approached by messengers of the saints and told him:
"O Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, you have no place in the city of Baghdad, because the city of Baghdad has been filled by the Guardians of God."
Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani said while pointing out a glass that had contained clear water: "As this is Baghdad, the glass is the city of Baghdad and the water is the guardians of God"
Then he took a Red Rose from the sky, then placed it in the water in the glass, saying: "And I am the Rose among His guardians".
At that very moment the guardian of the messenger fell down and prostrated to ask forgiveness of Allah for his pride.
All Jews, Christians and Muslims, have their own symbolism of roses. This monotheistic is tied together with each other, where the origins of the three religions lead to the Middle East and at the same time the rise of the roses.
Some other cultures are also associated with the symbol of roses, such as different sects in Hinduism, ancient Persian legends telling a nightingale who loves a white rose and holds tightly. The spines penetrate his chest and cause the blood to fall on the rose thus turning the roses to red.
