Thank you for explaining the concept dApp preference in a way which helped me understand it a bit more clearly. I thought it might have something to do with this.

Yes my thoughts are well in line with yours. I enjoy rewarding people for their work and efforts, displays of arts and vulnerabilities, things that take outright courage. It's an enjoyable experience to feel like you are earning your rewards. With the idea of curation, you are rewarded for imposing your agree-ability for greater reward to the author. It's a win/win. There's just no need for a self vote in this kind of a system. Some people are only in it for the money. You clearly, are in it for the people :)
