when I cradled you in my chest,
life changed that night
and the feeling made me blessed.
Daylight woke me up in zest
and enthused me to be in your delight,
because nothing feels like home akin to a nest
besides the warmth ignited by your light.
Loyalty was your hue
and you were born with a pure heart,
you wiped every tear that went through
and you never wanted to be apart.
I can never imagine the day of your depart
that'll twist my joy to a touch of blue,
but one thing will remain in my heart
nothing compares to a friend like you.
