Why not to left job for entrepreneurship

Don’t quit your job or drop out of school until you have a viable business.

One of my favorite quotes about this is from a friend of mine.

Don’t drop out of something, drop into something else.

If you are passionate about what you’re working on, and you enjoy it, you’ll find a way to do that startup before work, after work, during lunch, and on the weekends.

When I first moved out to the Bay, I got a day job as a data engineer for a tech company.

The CEO was a friend that was helping me figure out what I wanted to do next with my life.

I loved the team, but I hated working a 9–5 job. I moved out to the Bay to start my own business, so that’s exactly what I did.

Before work, after work, during lunch, and on the weekends, I was the coffee shop near my apartment growing my company.

After three weeks of being in the Bay, I signed my first client.

It wasn’t a lot of money, but it was enough to pay rent, and buy groceries.

I realized I didn’t need a full time job anymore so, I walked up to the CEO and told him I was ready to scale my time back at the company.

Within a month, I was only working at his company for 2 days, and the rest of the week I was working on Jamocha Media.

A month later, I could afford an apartment in the big, bad, city of San Francisco.

I’ve lived here for two years now.

I wouldn’t exchange it for anything in the world, but I also didn’t risk anything to get to where I am.

I made sure I was stable before going full in on my idea.

You have to be passionate about what you’re going to work on, because if you aren’t passionate enough to work on it at 11pm on a Wednesday, after a long day of work…

You aren’t going to be passionate enough to work on it full time.
