American research expert Prof. Howard Gardener charted the multiple intelligence or multiple children in eight major categories.

According to him, everyone has a variety of intelligences but with different levels of development.

The meaning of intelligence according to Gardener is a collection of skills or skills that can be grown.

Gardener divides the intelligence of children in eight areas of intelligence: linguistics, mathematical logic, visual and spatial, music, interpersonal, intrapersonal, kinesthetic, and naturalist.

One is intrapersonal intelligence. Intrapersonal intelligence is the ability that is related to awareness and knowledge of self, can understand the strengths and weaknesses of self, able to motivate himself and do self-discipline.

Children with intrapersonal skills tend to like to work alone, ignorant, and often mengintropeksi themselves. They really understand the strengths and weaknesses they have.

Characteristic features:

  • 1. The child has a diary and regularly notes thoughts or feelings deeply and personally.

  • 2. Children are often alone to think about and solve the problem itself.

  • 3. The child can determine the purpose or desire.

  • 4. The son of an independent thinker (independent). The child can decide for himself.

  • 5. Children have a hobby or pleasure that is personal that you do not share much or reveal to others.

Then how can parents support these intrapersonal abilities?

Parents can take on the role of developing the intrapersonal abilities of children by:

  • 1. Appreciate the child's personal feelings.

  • 2. Provide children with opportunities to advise others.

  • 3. Hone the child's feelings.
