Couple of days ago I’ve published my birthday post celebrating 2 years on Steemit. And then I’ve came up with the idea of making some throwback posts series. It is so nice to read once again what you’ve wrote long time ago.

Naturally I’ve started with my intro post which I’ve published 2 years ago on my first week on Steemit. Next throwback was the post about my dog. And yesterday I’ve continued with my first top post which was very appreciated by the community including some whales. So here it comes the next one! Read below, it is very philosophical. 😊

When it hurts...

My grandfather told me once a wonderful story about emotional pain. It is filled with so much wisdom....

An elderly teacher in India was tired of the constant complaints of his student. And so, one morning he sent him to bring salt. When he returned, the teacher forced the disgruntled young man to pour a hand full of salt into a glass of water and then drink it.

- What taste does it have? He asked.

"Bitter," said the student.

The teacher smiled, then told the young man to pour the same amount of salt into the lake. The two men went silently to the nearby lake, and when the student threw a handful of salt into the water, the old man said,

"Drink now from the lake.

When the water touched his lips, the teacher asked him again:

- What taste does it have?

"Sweet," was the answer this time.

Then the teacher sat down next to the young man, who so much reminded of himself in his youth. He took his hands and said,

- The pain in life is a hand full of pure salt. It always remains the same. But the bitterness we taste depends on the dish that dissolves the pain. So when it hurts you can only expand your own perception ... Do not be a glass. Be a lake.
