How To Add A New Token To MyEtherWallet.com

With the explosion of ICO’s and ERC20 tokens, myetherwallet.com is becoming an essential tool to manage all of your ethereum based coins (ERC20 tokens are ethereum based tokens that adhere to a specific standard to provide interoperability with DAPPs and easy interchangeability among other ERC20 tokens). Myetherwallet is a hybrid wallet where the interface is hosted on myetherwallet’s server but only you have your keys and maintain complete ownership over your tokens. About the only real downside to myetherwallet is that’s it’s not the most user friendly in that you have to re-input your validation (your private key, UTC, JSON, etc) every time you change to a new page within the wallet. I’m not going to go into creating a myetherwallet wallet here though, there are already a number of tutorials available on how to do so.

Currently, myetherwallet already hosts about 50 different ERC20 tokens, but with all of the new coins coming online, you may need to add a new token to your wallet. Fortunately this is quite easy. First, navigate to View Wallet Info and then click on Show All Tokens and make sure the token you want to add isn’t already there. If it’s not, you then need to click on the Tokens (Ethplorer.io) link underneath the token list. Once at ethplorer.io, search for the token you want to add. After finding it, copy its contract address and make note of how many decimal places the coin has. Once you’ve done that, go back to myetherwallet.com and paste in the contract address, the token ticker name (the short name of the coin. For example the ticker of ethereum is ETH), and the number of decimals it uses, hit save, and that’s it! You’ve now added a new ERC20 token to your myethewallet.com address. All that’s left to do is send your ERC20 tokens from your current location to your myetherwallet address.

I hope you found this short tutorial informative. If you did, I gratefully accept tips.

I have a question.
recently I did ICO for DMARKET.
I used the myetherwallet, do you know how to add the DMARKET token in myetherwallet? or it's not possible?

Thanks!

Great post! Upvoted.

Hey... If I want to send Tokens to my ether wallet, is the same address for all tokens ??

Yes it is!

Your instruction is not the way to add a token as a default token in the main MEW list. It is only for the personal reference; so your friends won't find the symbol from the official MEW token list.

Here is the link for the detailed instruction about how to list a token as a default token on MEW:

Hi, just wanted to make sure before transferring my ERC 20 token. For WTC , is the contract address: 0xb7cB1C96dB6B22b0D3d9536E0108d062BD488F74 and Decimals : 18 ?
