Merry Christmas once again
I have a question..
And the question is.. Is Christmas all about the birth of Christ?
I will love you guys to contribute because I am lost.
Christmas 🌲 they say its when Christ was born.
And it is celebrated every 25th of December.
On this day Christ alone is supposed to be celebrated but it has turned out not so.
In our country Nigeria, Christmas has turned out to be a day where sacrifices and rituals are made just for them to celebrate Christ along side their culture.

This is the culture of Opobo local government area of Rivers state culture which is displayed in Ikot Abasi local government area of Akwa Ibom state every 25th of December not only by traditionalist but majority of Christians.

It is known as Nwatam. Which was first played at Ewanga. It has so many groups with different uniforms and dancing steps.

Before this culture is being displayed....so many sacrifices has to be done in the water to appease the gods involved.
My question again..
Must it be on the Christmas day?
A day we are supposed to be adoring him
A day we are supposed to be in church
A day Christ was born

Christmas is certainly about the birth of Jesus Christ and celebrated in various ways. The events you described above are all part of cultural heritage and i believe culture is really essential and should be passed down from generation to generation.Aside from the alleged sacrifices and ritual,i totally find nothing wrong with the way they celebrate their traditions even in this festive period. Its part of who they are and should never be neglected. Thanks for sharing. I am glad i stopped by.

Wow... Thanks too for sharing.
Their culture is one of the best here and I find it difficult to stop watching. In my next post I will share the video of the culture is being displayed. I bet you will enjoy it.
You can follow me if you wish

Well , 25 December isn't the date Jesus was born. It is just a set aside holiday to reflect on his birth.

Possibly other culture set aside 25th December for their sacrifice

I get your point

Well, Christmas for me is a holiday.. Cool off from the year's stress and spend time with family.

Same here..thats y i dont miss this .

One day some of these obnoxious cultural practices will pass away, well done dear

why do you find them obnoxious?
