Throwback Sunday: Why I kept all the STEEM I earned blogging.

I have shared my whole Steem journey from plankton to now on the blockchain.

This is how I started:

The very first thing I did was to buy STEEM and I still have that STEEM today.

From time to time I like to go back in my blog and look at things I used to say and write and if I still feel the same way.

Today I want to share my third vlog on Steemit I ever made.

I didn't even number them because I wasn't sure yet if it was something I wanted to pursue back then.

369 vlogs later I think I have :)

This vlog I made on the 14th of may 2017.

1.5 years ago.

In the video I explain why the STEEM that the content creators earned before (14th may 2017) was easy STEEM and why I believe they should keep it.

Sorry for the shaky recording. It's something I fixed in later video's when ppl gave me feedback about it.

When I watch this video today I still believe in what I said back then and have acted accordingly.

I have kept all the STEEM I earned and bought even more than that with time.

It's also much harder today to earn STEEM than at the beginning for the simple reason that the reward pool is fixed and more accounts are competing over it.

I'm also still a huge believer in Steem and how it will chance social media forever(and I think today it's much easier to envision how than back then, I also believe it will change much more than just social media).

Enjoy this throwback!

You've only been here 1.5 years? I have been here over 1 year and I feel like you had to have been here much longer than me. Were you able to acquire the majority of your Steem when it was around $0.07? It seems like getting that much Steem these days is next to impossible.

No I made that vlog 1.5 years ago. I have been here since July 2016.

I did buy in the downtrend of 2016/2017 but also up to $1. I never powered down. Stacked almost everything. Took some SBD out when the price went to $10 but never STEEM that I earned.

Earning STEEM is not impossible at all. But it requires more effort. Steem Monsters is showing the way. (just peek into their wallet).

In the future I expect communities to earn most the STEEM. Just like Bitcoin mining pools. It seems like a natural progression to me. New Individuals with no SP going at it alone have little chance when it comes to earning STEEM.

I think this is one of the reasons why people give up and leave. It's because they can't see the bigger picture yet. They want to take but not give.

SMT's are created to help the individuals and communities. Every content creator will get a new shot. The smart ones are already focussing their attention on the community they want to belong too. Steem hunt for instance.

I'm hoping I will be able to delegate to these communities for a ROI when SMT's come out and help them grow.

But before that happens earning STEEM anyway one can is the way to go.

I consider every STEEM very precious.

I agree with the notion that communities will earn Steem much quicker than any content creator. Steem Monsters was able to become an Orca (almost a Whale) in a matter of months while others are pumping out content everyday for around ~2000 SP.

I have realized that whatever I earn through my DTube videos/blogs is not much compared to what Steem Monsters can do, but I have been relatively successful on this platform. I have been wanting to try and approach earning Steem in a different way by providing something of value to the community that isn't bounded by waiting for whales to upvote me within a 7 day window.

The beauty of Steem Monsters is that they also give back to the community that helps them grow. It attracts users and therefor I believe that the SM community will be very big very soon.

Yes, here lies the key to success. I hope you find it!

Thanks brotha 😎

I also want to buy some steem now I think its right time for buy.

I will keep my SP and will power up until 2020. I hope you are right @exyle.

If I feel any different in the future I will share it on my blog.

same message but a year and a half wiser ;)

interesting to watch these older videos of yours and see how the platform has changed.

back then i’m assuming it was mostly a blogging platform and now it’s a ‘change the world’ platform.

Yes, a lot has changed. It's been an incredible sight to behold. It has already become become bigger than I ever imaged back then and it's only just started.

Right now do live 100% of your time from the Steem blockchain? I saw that you make on a average of 600$ a week.

No, I live from crypto in general. But right now mostly from the buffer I build in Fiat at the end of 2017 when the prices went high.

Do you know that you inspire me to start my daily vlog on Dtube. ;)

I believe the value of Steem will go high next year. It is just a feeling and a big hope. I am also keeping my earned Seem for the good days. I am a year on Steemit and already noticed the difference. After 6 months of me joining Steemit things have changed a lot and became more difficult, but we shouldnt give up!

Cool.
Shaky camera, but I like the angle, you are sitting in your lazy chair.
At the end you say: he Steem price is nog bad, it's 80-90 cents. Lol!
And right now it's the same and it feels bad. ;)

But, does it really feel that bad? Maybe if you invested at the time Mark was cashin ..... then prob yes --- i feel ya. It's pretty interesting this new set of operations and community of the blockchain.

Thanks for sharing your experience 1.5 year.

I was going to stick with 1k Steem but the more I learn, the more I want to get. Now seems like a good time to accumulate more, it isn't too difficult to earn and the price seems cheap, compared to other coins that don't seem to have much going for them.

Some things are so valuable with time that it stay with you forever and that moment when you created and those memories will stay with you forever :)
