The Last Light in the Library
Every night, the old library closed at nine—except one desk lamp that stayed on until ten. No one
questioned it.
One evening, a curious janitor peeked inside and found a note where the lamp glowed: “Still reading. Still hoping.”
The next night, someone new sat there, turning pages under the same warm light. The lamp, at last, turned off on time.
