5 facts about PLASTIC (5factsabout series ) - #3

We use plastic in many things in our life; water bottles, bags, coke bottles, plates, utensils, glasses you name it!
But have you ever thought of knowing some facts about this material?
Let's have a look.

1- Originally, plastic is made of natural things like oil, coal and plants. They are multi molecules joined together, that's why it starts with "poly" which means "many".
2- Over the last decade, plastic was produced more than it did for a whole century.
3- a plastic bag can take approximately from 500-1000 years to degrade, and when it does, the result is poisonous.
4- 500 billion plastic bags are world widely used per year.
5- 8+ million tons of plastic are dumped in the oceans every year. Causing pollution and threatening animals' lives.

Try to use recycable bags, paper bags or shopping bags that are NOT plastic.
Plastic is a really harmful substance, if we don't see the results of the pollution now, probably our children will do.
