How Strong is Your Faith?

It is good to be back once again on steemit, I traveled to my village to spend some time with my relatives. There were little fun over there but I had to return to continue my business in the city. Yesterday I attended a christian fellowship, and part of the discussions was about an everlasting faith.

Although, most of us know about faith when you talk about Christianity, but there was this trilling aspect of the discussion that really arrested my heart, and I felt I had to share with my beloved ones. The first question they asked was HOW STRONG IS YOUR FAITH?

They understood the attendees knows about faith, almost everyone would admit that we have faith in God, but how strong is the faith we have got? Actually, I was not too impressed at the beginning of the teaching, because I thought it was something I already know about. I became convinced and concentrated when they referred us to the first scripture of the topic.

So we then started with Matthew 14:22-31, according to the verse, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. He then went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat was already a considerable distance from the land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to the disciples walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified, they thought it was a ghost and became afraid. But Jesus immediately said to them, "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." Then Peter replied him and asked to go meet him if really he was Jesus.

And Jesus said to Peter, "Come!" (Matthew 14:29), then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink, he cried out "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

From this teaching they told us that Jesus had them go to the place just to show them signs and to encourage them to have an eternal faith which is without doubt and backsliding. Peter had faith, he walked on the lake, but how long did the faith lasted? The moment he lost the faith, he also lost the power, he lost the authority.

People lost their faith most times at the middle of the road. The work of God is not only about the beginning, but also consist of the end part. Many people may start well, but how many of them will end well? A good example for this is the Olympic race competition, you see at the very beginning all the athletes are full of strength, and they all want a good ending. But it's only those who had placed more effort both from the beginning to the end that will end up in a glorious mood.

Beloved brethren, how strong is your faith? Where will you end in the nearest future? A faith without doubt, a faith till eternity is the kind of faith Jesus want us to exhibit. There are lots of power in this system of living. No matter how big or small the faith is, Jesus said in Matthew 17:20, "For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."

Buildup your faith, don't be afraid nor doubt, there is great benefit in it. May God with is unfailing mercy bless you abundantly. Peace of God be with you!

God bless You.

Peter left the boat (His comfort zone) and stepped out on faith when he knew that it was the Lord. His faith took him toward Jesus and he was following the Words of Jesus. There is a lot of faith in the world, men have faith in other gods and religious practices, they have faith in mankind and our science and learning, or they simply have faith in themselves and their own abilities. I have chosen to completely put my faith in Jesus the Christ, the resurrected Son of God. I can do nothing of myself but I can endure all things in Him and accomplish anything that is done under His leadership and in His power. All that I am, all that I see, and all that is in my possession was created by Him and for Him and I can trust Him to preserve and keep all that is His and that is serving His purpose. Thank you for this great blog on faith!
