GOD'S TAKE ON THE MARRIAGE UNION
"THEN THE LORD GOD SAID, “IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE MAN TO BE ALONE. I will make A HELPER who is just RIGHT for HIM.”
Genesis 2:18 (NLT)
• Marriage institution is the first institution of God. And the primary purpose of a marriage union is companionship (Genesis 28:18).
- Marriage is a scared union between two partners, and it should not be entered into casually without a proper preparation.
- God has a purpose and plans for all He established. He has expectations for everything He does. Thus, God's expectation for the marriage union is to be a secure setting to bring forth children that would be raised in His way (Genesis 18:18,19; Malachi 2:15).
• Sexual relations is ordained by God, but should be within the context or setting of a marriage Union.
- God never intends that sexual relationship should be between two people who are not lawfully joined together in a marriage Union.
- Sexual relations should not be abused. If you had a sexual relation with someone you are not joined together with in a marriage union, you become one body with the person, whether you know it or not:
15 DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT YOUR BODIES ARE ACTUALLY PARTS OF CHRIST? SHOULD A MAN TAKE HIS BODY, WHICH IS PART OF CHRIST, AND JOIN IT TO A PROSTITUTE? NEVER! 16 AND DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT IF A MAN JOINS HIMSELF TO A PROSTITUTE, HE BECOMES ONE BODY WITH HER? FOR THE SCRIPTURES SAY, “THE TWO ARE UNITED INTO ONE" (1 Corinthians 6:15,16 NLT). - The Holy Spirit admonishes every believer through the epistle of Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:18 (NLT): "RUN FROM SEXUAL SIN! NO OTHER SIN SO CLEARLY AFFECTS THE BODY AS THIS ONE DOES. FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY IS A SIN AGAINST YOUR OWN BODY."
• Run from sexual sin: "FOR GOD BOUGHT YOU WITH A HIGH PRICE. SO YOU MUST HONOUR GOD WITH YOUR BODY" (1 Corinthians 6:20 (NLT).
- If you had a sexual relation or affair with someone, you would have a soul tie with the person (1 Corinthians 6:16).
- Many have entered into a covenant unknowingly through sexual relationships. And some have been initiated through sexual relationships.
- Sexual relation appeals to humans' natural desire, as a result of this, the devil hijacked it to use it against God's intended purpose.
- Affection for sex is wired in human system, but it should be managed according to God's Word.
- A good number of believers who do not have the understanding of it, wanted to believe it is a dirty thing that should not be talked about among the believers.
WHEN such people come under the temptation of it, they do not know how to handle it:
"BUT BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH SEXUAL IMMORALITY, EACH MAN SHOULD HAVE HIS OWN WIFE, AND EACH WOMAN SHOULD HAVE HER OWN HUSBAND" (I Corinthians 7:2 NLT). - Sex is not cheap! It is sacred and it should be reserved for your spouse alone (2 Corinthian 7:4).
• If you defiled your body through sexual immorality, it will affect your relationship with God negatively, and that will open the door for the enemy, the devil, to operate in your life.
- If you did go against God's law by committing a sin, it exposes you to the attacks from the kingdom of darkness.
- David exposed himself and his family to destruction through sexual Immorality. He committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah. The sin he committed exposed his family to series of attacks from the devil. Amnon, his first son, raped Tamar, his half-sister (2 Samuel 13:1-17); afterwards, Absalom arranged a bloody death for Amnon, to avenge on his sister, Tamar (2 Samuel 13:23-34).
- The reason was that the sin committed by David had brought a curse on the family, that blood would not depart from the family (2 Samuel 12:9,10); thus, Absalom plotted a coup to topple or overthrow his father's government but he died in the process (2 Samuel 15:1-18,15).
- All these happened because God had earlier said sword would be a constant threat to David's family for he had affairs with Uriah's wife, arranged a bloody death for the man, Uriah, and eventually took the wife for himself (2 Samuel 12:9,10).
- God also said David's household would rebel against him, and that another man would sleep will his wives publicly (2 Samuel 12:11,12). Absalom fulfilled this portion of God's pronouncement or curse—recorded in 2 Samuel chapters 15:10-18 and 16:20-22.
• God ordained marriage for sexual purity. Keep yourself from sexual immorality!
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in Jesus' mighty name.
- The hold is completely broken and It will never rise again in Jesus' mighty name.
Peace!
