NOT LIVING FOR THE SELF
"FOR NONE OF US LIVES TO HIMSELF, and no one dies to himself."
Romans 14:7 (NKJV)
This passage is the core of the consecration of a believer's life—the
Christian living. When a believer gets to the point that he or she consciously realizes they live for Christ and not for the self, and if they died, they died for Him; the person is considered a mature believer, one who walks in the Spirit. Such is no longer controlled by the flesh, and he or she is no longer wavering or being tossed about by the opinions of men or people (Ephesians 4:14; Hebrews 13:9).
When you live for God, you care not of what people say, but what God says. When you live for God; you doggedly get committed to whatever you are doing for Him without being sentimental nor listening to what others are saying.
Every believer should grow beyond sentimentalism in whatever they are doing and in their relationship with
God (1 Thessalonians 2:4). The only One whom a believer should always strive to please is God. You should always guide against God's displeasure or discountenance with you. What I did fear most is God's disfavour or
discountenance with me (Matthew 10:28). The only One who should not leave you as a believer in Christ Jesus is God—any other person can leave you,
but you should not allow God to leave you: "MOSES SAID TO HIM, “IF YOUR PRESENCE IS NOT GOING TO GO WITH ME, DO NOT SEND US UP FROM HERE" (Exodus 33:15 Evangelical Heritage Version).

If you are left or forsaken by God, that would be the end. Thus, you should stop striving to sentimentally please Men or humans: "FOR DO I NOW PERSUADE MEN, OR GOD? Or DO I SEEK TO PLEASE MEN? FOR IF I STILL PLEASED MEN, I WOULD NOT BE A BONDSERVANT OF CHRIST" (Galatians 1:10 NKJV).
A believer who lives for God would want to please God in all he or she does.
Thus, pleasing God should be your ultimate goal and desire. If you
sentimentally pleased someone whilst you disobeyed or displeased God; that same person whom you considered to obey rather than God would be used as a rod to chastise you: "BUT PETER AND JOHN REPLIED, “DO YOU THINK GOD WANTS US TO OBEY YOU RATHER THAN HIM?" (Acts 4:19 NLT).
