RENDER THEREFORE TO ALL THEIR DUE

“RENDER THEREFORE TO ALL THEIR DUE: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour.”
Romans 13:7 (NKJV)

This passage of the Scripture is not wholeheartedly received or welcomed by any number of professed believers. For God to stand for a believer, or to defend a believer, such also would be someone who respects or honours the Word of God.

We have seen some recalcitrant people who claimed to be believers, who said the epistles written by Apostle Paul are Paul's words or teachings, that they are not God's words. If a part of the Bible is believed or accepted by you, you should also believe and accept other parts—because every part of the Bible was written by God's inspiration and by those who were used to do that (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21). Believers are to obey, practice the written Word of God, in their daily lives (James 1:22-25).

Some would like to choose the aspect of the Bible to obey and practice, and the aspect they would not want to obey and practice (2 Timothy 4:3,4).
The passage of the text says:
"RENDER THEREFORE TO ALL THEIR DUE: TAXES TO WHOM TAXES ARE DUE, CUSTOMS TO WHOM CUSTOMS, FEAR TO WHOM FEAR, HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR (Romans 13:7 NKJV).

Honour whoever the Bible says you should honour:

a. Honour the spiritual authorities over your life (Hebrews 13:7,17).
b. Honour those who are in government. Honour your spiritual parent or the leadership of your church or ministry, and other ministers of God (Romans 13:1,2; 1 Peter 2:13).

Also, customs to whom customs is due means the leadership in the locality or community you are, should also be given their due honour or respect.

The fear mentioned in the passage talks about those whom you supposed to reverence. It talks about reverential fear, which is equal to honouring or revering or respecting someone. A well-mannered and taught person should do all these. Albeit, reverse
is the case today, especially the Gen Z generation on social media. They talk, disdain, denigrate, and insult whoever they want. Every well taught and matured believer should practice this passage of the Bible.

Is your life contradictory to what God says you should do, and how you should live?
If it is, you would do well to amend your ways.
