Made a couple of observations on Shanti's doggy simplicity over the past couple of days, thinking about our exchange on this post :)

• no long drawn-out sentimental goodbyes. Once an activity is over, or interest diverted, it's up and away, no hanging about fidgeting awkwardly
• a small food treat has the same intensity of attention and enthusiasm as a larger amount - the same appreciation.

btw, read a book called Dogs Never Lie About Love reflections on the emotional world of dogs a year or so ago - very insightful.
