YouTube kids/"Elsagate" update!

in #family7 years ago

So 6 months ago I did both investigating and also awareness towards YouTube kids as something seemed very off about the topics and themes that were covered in them and now after 6 months I would like to update those that were with me along for the ride.

Quick summary of what is now called "Elsagate" its "a Phenomenon on Youtube of reoccuring Themes, Animations in Context of inappropriate Topics in Videos on several Channels available and targeted at Kids. Those videos often feature Spiderman, Frozen Elsa, Joker, Mickey Mouse and other Characters popular with Kids." With this there has been every from gore to sexual imagery using kids characters. Now after 6 months of investigating a snowball effect has happened thanks to everyone else who jumped on like Investigating YouTube and Honeybee

So after months of investigating and also trying to contact YouTube themselves they got hit with a snowball effect of Ad companies pulling out, families outraged,Massive hiring and frantic mass deletion and tons of integration on what should/shouldnt be allowed. I checked this morning and now its really hard for me to find something new in regards of this (there are re uploads of new vids but not much) so looks as though this investigating is about over as YouTube is now taking action with hiring 25% more people to handle this situation. I still want parents to be aware of what their kids do but its now a safer environment for families to browse as they have either deleted the content or age gated them from being seen. Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way and also thanks to those that pushed this! Anyone wanting to keep updated could go to a Elsagate subreddit where they keep up to date on this.

So now that this is about over I would love to cover other topics to make the internet safer as there is other sites with a dark twist towards kids and hopefully you guys are on board as well!
