Oh yes I can testify to the fact that people in general, in the US at least, do turn a blind eye to abuse of children and especially mothers, and actively suppress whistleblowers. Nobody wants to hear it and they just want silence, or better yet, a GOOD ATTITUDE towards the perpetrators from victims. And that's just the average citizen. Government employees are aggressive about punishing victims and helping perps. That's been my experience anyways.
