Solomon in the Bible: You were famous everywhere, and people loved you for bringing peace. Ben Sira 47:16
The Book of Wisdom of Ben Sira teaches, by describing the lives of the most illustrious men in the history of the nation of Israel, how wisdom from on high blessed those who followed her with true love and devotion.
And Solomon, according to the Bible, was the wisest man of his time; this is why Ben Sira mentioned some aspects of his life and his greatest achievements, such as the construction of the first temple in Jerusalem. Because of his wisdom and intelligence, Solomon was admired in his own country and in foreign nations, for example, receiving a visit from the Queen of Sheba. But moreover, peace is the hallmark of the wise; that is why the land of Israel reached an era of great prosperity, splendor, and tranquility during the life of this great king, happiness was not a good destined only for the King, but also for every child of Israel. King Solomon loved God and his people and allowed himself to be loved, and with these beautiful words, the wise Ben Sira expressed these important facts: "You were famous everywhere, and people loved you for bringing peace" Ben Sira 47:16.
And the teachings of Ben Sira about King Solomon have a very simple spiritual meaning: when wisdom fails in a nation, everything fails. It doesn't matter how much money, wealth, military power, or advanced technological knowledge a country has; the Babylonian and Assyrian empires, famous for their tyranny over weaker nations, as they existed, also disappeared from history.
Wisdom is the science responsible for guiding men along the correct path in life, and the law of Moses is an expression of this perfect science. The great men of Israel who understood this great truth in their hearts blessed and freed the oppressed and hopeless, and were blessed by the Most High.
That is why Solomon, with his life, set a very important precedent, because in the rule of one person, there are only two options, the wise who governs in the name of the most excellent, or the tyrant, who only seeks his own good. Solomon in the Bible represents the reminder and demonstration that if men want to be truly successful, they must follow the path indicated by God's science.
