The home team Russia started off with a phenomenal 5-0 Victory again Saudi Arabia, I am not the only one who was amazed by the great goals scored in that game and surprised that the Russian players had it in them. I am now very excited to see how Russia will perform in the next round.

What a way to start off the World Cup with a hattrick for Ronaldo! How many managers had him on his team and maybe even as Captain? ;)

League Standings

It's going to be a few interesting days to follow for our managers, let's see if those with Ronaldo on their team will be able to maintain the top spots for the first round!

YOW Iran killed it!

defended good and took the opportunity well for a great heartful win!

We trust in Iran's will!

Go IRAN!!!!

The Portugal - Spain game was siiiiick. It had me jumping out of my seat. A great game, truly entertaining, it was a finals class game this early on. Although I must say Spain's goals were so well done Portugal needed those mistakes in order to get room to score theirs.

Edit: Put it in one comment.

which team you supporting??
I'm supporting Portugal .

Definitely the best game of WC 2018 so far .. 6 goals in 1 match and a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick, surely a contender for the Golden Boot (top scorer) award..

With games left to play against Morocco and Iran, you can bank on Ronaldo scoring more goals #Portugal

I caught the second half of ESP - POR and gotta say, that was a nice equaliser around the edge of the wall.

It was interesting to listen to Mikael Forssell's and Jari Litmanen's commentary of the game. Litmanen is probably the best athlete Finland has ever had. I think he was ranked among the 50 best footballers of the world in several seasons. The number of football players is half a billion which makes football about 500 times bigger a sport than ice hockey or 50,000 times bigger than ski jumping. When the junior player population includes every third world slum in the world you're talking about competition orders of magnitude stiffer than in any winter sport.

I tend to 'tune out' Finnish :D It is a terrible habit I have learned and wish I didn't do it.

The competition is pretty high for football and when it comes to ice hockey, the 'rich kids' who get a chance to play are losing their drive as it is easier to not train. Everyone wants to be a star, very few want to do the work.

It's still takes a lot of work to become an ice hockey pro. It's just that the player population is about 1 to 1,5 million. It's a small sport compared to football, basketball or volleyball. But as more and more countries industrialize and develop a middle class the number of ice hockey players will increase. There was a story on Kymmenen Uutiset about Kenyan ice hockey players who trained in the only ice hall of the country in Nairobi. They had boys and girls. That there even exists such a thing as Sub-Saharan African (SA excluded) ice hockey players was a complete surprise to me.

which team you supporting this FIFA?
I'm supporting Portugal.

People already have big score and into 40's, while I am struggling in single digit. All my hope is on Lukaku and Mueller now.

I even didn't have Ronaldo in my team. I wish I had him. I am not visible in the league table now, but hoping for the best in upcoming matches.

C. Ronaldo > Game Changer :)

Its been entertaining so far. Uruguay really dug deep to beat Egypt and I must say that Iran shocked me with their victory today.
Portugal and Spain showed us the kind of quality that's on offer in this tournament. Spain did all their usual probing and passing while Portugal used the same blueprint they used to win the Euros 2 years ago, which is basically on effectiveness on the ball and of course the immeasurable luck riding at times in defence. Overall, the tournament's going well. Looking forward to the games tomorrow. Team Nigeria all the way.

The cup is going well! Can't wait for Argentina to play! Also Germany v Mexico!

Woops! my team is hiding,. Where are you manh?

I guess it’s not for nothing that Ronaldo is one of the best paid players in the world, it almost seems like he could defeat a team on his own
