The cebollin is a very attractive plant, tasty and easy to grow, in particular it gives me a very particular flavor to the meals. This crop has the scientific name Allium schoenoprasum. This herb is very vigorous and grows exuberantly like clusters from a small bulb.

Investigating to make this publication I found a very curious fact that I did not know the chive plant produces a flower:

One of the ways or requirement on how to plant chives is that this plant requires a fertile and drained soil, however it can grow in many types of soils. A slow-release fertilizer can be added before or during planting, either a small amount of compost that is organic or compost in the soil.

When you intend to plant a chive of chives you should consider that this type of plant should preferably be in full sunlight but this does not eliminate the possibility that you have it inside your house, the important thing is that at least 6 hours a day is exposed to the sun.

ON SOWING

There are two ways in which you can plant the chive plant, either from a pre-existing plant or its seeds. Despite being able to sow from their seeds, there are many experts who recommend their cultivation from the bulbs or from an already grown chive plant, this is mainly due to the fact that the seeds take two years to grow.

go to the nurseries in your town and make the appropriate consultations. A general advice on how to choose them is to observe that they are green and very bright seedlings, with a height of 3 to 5 inches.

ABOUT YOUR CARE

You must fertilize every 3 to 4 weeks with a liquid fertilizer, fish emulsion, or 20-20-20, diluted according to the instructions on the label. Keep in mind that although the flowers are usually pretty, but if the purpose of planting this plant is for its leaves, you must get rid of the flower buds to increase the production of leaves. Remember to divide the chives every 3 to 4 years during the spring. Chives are much more productive if they are divided regularly.

You must bear in mind that the Chives can be an invasive plant, a way to avoid this, is to cut the flower buds during the harvest. This should prevent them from spreading to other areas within your garden.
