One thing I learned for me at least is simply taking an action, any action is probably the most important thing. If you just toss out the obvious bad ideas and move forward you on average are better off.
Yeah, if paying attention, 90% of the options are already unavailable yet, no one likes to feel like they are limited. Cut obvious bad ideas, choose just off obvious good ideas :)
