Featured Posts are actually a rough implementation of a feature that will launch with Communities called “Pinned Posts”

The 'Featured Posts' implementation here on Steemit, is perhaps a helpful addition and being unobtrusive in nature, I don't mind it at all; as a matter of fact, I welcome it.
