RE: A Monday Without Machines, Original Short Fiction for Steemit, Second Round of my You Pick the Story, I Write it! Contest!

Nice story. I think you could turn this into a full length novel if you wanted. You have an interesting place to start with a largely AI run world. I am very curious as to what humans actually do in this world though, and that possible conflict between AI and humans you crafted with the Global Robot Labor Summit would be a really interesting way to explore the balance between AI and humanity.

I think it's a problem we need to wrestle with and find peace with. It's going to be a reality soon. Will people be willing to see things like Steemit as meaningful work? In the grand scheme, I mean, not just us anarchists. LOL

That is an interesting question you pose. Anyone can obviously see that Steemit is meaningful work. ;-)
But you are right. More automation means more questions about what work is and how it will evolve for humans.

Frankly, in most "developed" countries, the bulk of the jobs being done are total bs. They are a waste of human potential that should either A: not be done at all, or B: be taken over by a machine to free up a human to do something vital, like love their neighbors. How could would it be to live in a world where you could do what you saw needed doing and not have to fit some inane "niche" in some "economic system" which is just an elaborate game to keep people busy and feeling useful.

You are right. The job I do is inn no way a necessity. While we can't completely realize the kind of society you write about, I think we can do things that need to be done on a small scale and positively impact those we encounter. It's part of what I hope to do in life at least.
