Silver fish

Silverfish are small, wingless insects known for their shiny, silvery appearance and quick, fish-like movements. Their scientific name is Lepisma saccharinum. They are usually about 1–2 cm long and have a flat, elongated body with three long tail-like appendages at the rear.
Silverfish are commonly found in dark, damp places such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and storage areas. They prefer warm and humid environments, which help them survive and reproduce.
These insects feed mainly on carbohydrates, especially sugars and starches. They often eat paper, books, glue, clothing, and food items like flour and cereals. Because of this, they can damage household items over time.
Silverfish are not harmful to humans in terms of biting or spreading diseases, but they are considered pests because they can ruin valuable materials like books and fabrics.
To control silverfish, it is important to keep areas clean and dry, fix water leaks, and store food and paper items properly. Using natural repellents or insecticides can also help reduce their population.
