@freezepeach tries to neutralize flags that are based on disagreement of opinion by matching them vest for vest. It does not reward anyone, but allows people to speak freely as long as they're not calling/wishing or otherwise threatening violence on another person or group of people.
Although I don't really see the point since even if something is flagged it's still there and many check out flagged comments more often than regular ones. This whole "a percentage of them being voted are racist thus I will counter every vote of it because I can" motive of OP seems absurd, though.
True. But, that monetary value seems to hit people really hard psychologically.
For many that's why they use Steem so it's understandable. Will be more fun when there are people here using it just because they want to.
Maybe if condensor didn't hide posts below payment threshold, it wouldn't be as much of a problem, but as it is, there is a psychological effect that I don't know how to overcome. Also, I actually like the feature when it's applied to spam/plag/etc.
It's about retention more than anything. People come here to escape the thought police of facebook/youtube/etc, only to find that it's the same in some regards. While nothing can truly be censored here, the same tool that fights spammers/plagiarizes/reward farms is being used to stifle speech. The optics of this have much greater implications than can be seen at the surface.
