FLOR DE VENEZUELA

La Flor de Venezuela1 officially the Flor de Venezuela Cultural Center also alternatively called Hannover Flower is a structure located in the area known as the Eastern Triangle in the city of Barquisimeto, the capital of Lara State in the central west of the South American country of Venezuela.

It is a design by the Venezuelan architect Fruto Vivas with a system of 16 petals that can be opened and closed. It is inspired by the Tepuyes of the Gran Sabana de Venezuela and the National Flower of Venezuela, the Orquídea.2 It has numerous gardens and forests representative of Venezuela, fish tanks, a library and an amphitheater.

The structure represented Venezuela in the world expo of Hanover, Germany in the year 2000.3 It was moved progressively to Venezuela beginning in 2006 and inaugurated in its current position in 2008 as property of the Venezuelan State, who granted it as a loan to the state government Lara.
