I love flowers. Do you?
I made a decision recently to start to make our home more beautiful. It probably helps that Brad and I (but mostly Brad) have been giving the whole house a refresh, with an interior paint job and a heap of decluttering.
One of the things I decided to do was start collecting flowers from our garden and putting them in a vase on the kitchen bench. I have always loved flowers and always wanted more in our home. But I guess there have been a lot things things that have felt indulgent, frivolous or perhaps too luxurious for me to justify doing.
Buying flowers certainly has been one of those.
But at some point I realised that, especially this time of year, we actually have enough flowering plants and trees in our yard that I can just collect a handful every few days and pop them in a vase.
I'm no florist; my flower arrangements are not sophisticated. They're intentionally placed, but often don't look much better than if someone were to just plonk then in there.
But at least there's more colour and intentional beauty in our house now. And that, that makes me happy.
(The photo in this post was taken by Brad this morning. I chose this one because it's the exact kind of flower that currently fills the vase in our home.)
Do flowers make you happy?
