The Ladies of the Night
Showing off my ladies of the night.
There is something about cactus flowers which touches me deeply.
The plants themselves are not much to look at. One could call them plain or maybe even ugly.
But they are good at surviving harsh, harsh conditions. Too much sun, not enough water - cacti can survive!!
But if given some water and a little (very little) care, once a year, they burst out of that drab existence and dazzle with beauty words fall short to describe.
Just another instance to remind us that everything and everyone has lots of potential.

Nice shots! When I tried to catch my neighbors last year they would only open in the early AM hours and I slept through the night when the fully opened.
