Is This Hamburger Worth $25 ? The Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger @ Hard Rock Cafe, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
I am a bit of a burger fan, so whenever I get the chance to try a new burger, I jump at it. I was in Chiang Mai last weekend and had been hearing good things about the burgers at "Hard Rock Cafe", but would they live up to the hype and the price?
There were a few burgers on offer, but the one that caught my eye was the "Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger". According to the menu this burger is basted with Hickory BBq Sauce and topped with BBQ Caramelized onions, Cheddar cheese, bacon, crisp lettuce and vine-ripened tomatoes. That was enough to get my mouth watering, however I couldn't help but notice the hefty price tag. This would be the most expensive burger I had ever bought in Thailand, it better be good!
The first thing I noticed when it arrived was how unappealing the bun looked. It looked like a plain bun you would buy from the supermarket, and not what I expected on an artisan burger that costs $25. When I cut the burger in half I could see that the bun was already becoming soggy on the bottom. Not a good start.
The rest of the ingredients, thankfully were pretty good. The meat was juicy and fatty., the cheddar was thick and rich and molten, the bacon could have been cooked a little more as it was soft and not crispy, and the caramalized onions finished of the rich mixture with the tasty hickory sauce. Unfortunately, the bun tasted as bland as it looked and let down the package.
The burger was served with some thick cut fried which were good for soaking up the excess sauce, and I was well and truly full by the end, but was I satisfied?......Not really. A Daniel Thaiger burger in Bangkok costs half as much and is far superior in nearly every way...Oh well, lets hope they improve it :)

Have a great weekend!

Looks delicious but not worth $25.00. I make better loooking, cheaper and tastier burgers at home myself.
Maybe in American you would have been more pleased with it but still i wouldn't pay that price for it well over rated !!
At that price you won't forget that burger a shame it didn't live up to it's reputation :)
