Vegan "Falafel-less" Flatbread Sandwich
I thought I would share my simple recipe to make a nutritious alkaline-electric vegan sandwich from scratch!
First, begin collecting ingredients for flatbread.
- 2 cups of White Spelt Flour
- 2 cups Dark Rye Flour
- 4 tbsp of Grape seed Oil
- 1 cup Sparkling Spring Water
- 1 tbsp Sea Salt
Mix ingredients thoroughly, add oregano or any other herbs if desired.
Knead bread for about 5-10 minutes.
Once kneading is done, sprinkle some flower and get rolling! 4 cups of flour will make approximately 12-16 pieces of flatbread depending on desired thickness.
Cook flatbread on medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side using a cast iron skillet.
The final product.
Now we begin on the 3 ingredient Tahini spread.
- Juice whole lemon
- Add 2 tbsp of Tahini
- Salt to taste or add desired amount of Onion Powder.
Get your desired greens and toppings, I will be using a spring mix as well as some tomato and onion.
Build the sandwich!
This is a great meal to make if you want an easy way to get your greens in if your not in the mood for a salad. Falafel sandwiches are one of my favorites but I have been trying to avoid eating cooked foods altogether. I find this sandwich very satisfying and tastes great just with veggies. Of course this sandwich is easily customizable so have fun with it and make yours unique!
The taste of tahnini is always amazing with anything so this must be very good. I'm trying out to be more healthy so I definitely will try this. I'm not too much of a cook so making this bread will definitely be fun haha. Many thanks for this post. Upvoted and followed! :)
Thanks for the upvote and follow! This was my first time making the bread with half Spelt and half Dark Rye, it turned out pretty good. I make my own bread because all the bread in the store has many ingredients that are harmful to our bodies such as added iron and dairy. The key to the flatbread is the grape seed oil and the sparkling water. One thing I would definitely add next time is some olive oil to the tahini mixture. Hope you enjoy trying this out!
Awesome!
Appreciate your support! Hope you find this recipe useful! Peace!
This looks like something I would really enjoy, simple yet full of plants and nutrition. I think I would make mine with some marinated chickpeas or some avocado to pack it with more protein :) Are you on more of a raw diet now? If so, I'd be very curious to know what that process has been like for you :)
Adding chickpeas or avocado to this would be work great as well! I personally picked this recipe to show that even with minimal cooking you can make a great falafel style sandwich. I've been on the mucusless diet for about a year now, obviously not sticking 100% to that as you can see. I found I was doing more harm than good by stressing about not consuming starchy foods such as potatoes and bread than I was eating 100% raw. With that being said, once I move to a more tropical environment that has more quality fruits I will have no problem going fruitarian. Thats great if you can build off this recipe and add your own flavor to it!! Much love!
Yummmy! you look like a really great cook! I am hungry again now haha!
Thanks for the feedback :P
But thats the best part! Just teasing, it looks delicious.
I love Falafel too! Thanks for the feedback 😌
