HOMEMADE MEAT PATTIES

I'm bringing you guys a recipe today for a homemade meat/Jamaican patty. Let me tell you, I do not eat frozen food, but Jamaican patties are an exception. I used to feel so guilty after eating them though, so I decided I would try to make it at home from scratch, so I wouldn't feel bad going for seconds. Here's what I did
Dough:
- Mix/Whisk together flour, salt, turmeric, and butter
- Whisk water, vinegar, and an egg, add it to previous mixture and mix the two very well
- Once this forms into a dough, wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour
Filling:
- Cook ground beef in a large sauté pan over medium heat until brown
- Add onion, garlic, jalapeño/green chilli, paprika, thyme, black pepper, and salt : stir together
- Remove from heat and add bread crumbs and beef broth
- Stir well and set aside to cool completely
Putting it all together:
- divide dough into small balls, then roll out dough to form circles (doesn't have to be perfect)
- add a heart tablespoon of beef mixture onto each round
- fold over and press edges with fingers
- place patties on baking sheet and brush the tops with egg mixture ( whisked egg, turmeric, and water)
- bake in preheated oven for 25 to 35 minutes
