How to Make Crud Muffins, They’re a Thing! (FOOD PHOTO SHOOT)

in #food7 years ago (edited)

I have to admit that I’m a little bit apprehensive to tell you all about these for fear that you might realize how nuts I am and not want to be friends anymore. If you think this is even remotely possible then you should go straight to one of my more level-headed recipes and we’ll pretend this never happened, okay?

Do you know anyone who uses “Oh crud muffins” as their little innocent curse of choice, or perhaps do you yourself say it?Occasionally my sister or I do. I mostly try to keep anything I say very G-rated (hey, there’re kids around). I also hate when a director ruins a great family movie by throwing in a ton of bad language, like really, is that necessary? However, sometimes that moment when you stub your toe really, really hard or remember that you forgot to pack your toothbrush, you can’t help verbalizing something, you know? “Crud muffins” is one that I don’t see as being offensive to anyone so I catch myself using it.

So, this post is proof that my older sister and I should never put our heads together on things like this. Haha, we were talking a while ago, about what I should create next, and during our conversation she dropped something on the floor and said “Crud muffins!”. And that was it, we decided then and there that I had to make them. Of course, this then posed the question of, what exactly is a crud muffin? So I’ve been thinking about it and I finally realized that a crud muffin should be a recipe that you use to help clear out the "crud" in your kitchen that has no other particular usage.

In example; things like that last pesky cup of almost freezer-burnt ice cream that doesn’t look like much until you scrape it out (which everyone is too lazy to do), or the partially eaten candy box that won’t disappear because no one knows its origin, in my case an almond Toblerone that had been melted and re-solidified one too many times.

Then there’s the crumbled, salty goods at the bottom of the bag of chips or pretzels that always seem to be overlooked and classified as trash, or the leftovers from that last batch of homemade marshmallows (that one’s probably just me). If you bake a lot you may have some egg yolks hanging around in the fridge from that white cake or meringue you just made, and if there are guys within a 10 mile radius you just might have some of my personal favorite sneaked-in ingredient, bacon grease! Do you think I’m crazy yet, ’cause I won’t blame you if you do? I already know I’m a little crazy, but a little eccentricity makes life more bearable, don’t you think?

I’m sure there are many ways that you could interpret what a crud muffin is, this is just my version. They certainly ended up having a very unique look to them. but I love em. The taste and texture are like an adventure in your mouth. There’s the soft cakey part filled with little pools of melted chocolate and gooey marshmallow (although my homemade marshmallows tend to be more candied than the 500-preservative-infused ones). The salty, crunchy crumb topping is the best part though, filled with pretzel bits and potato chip pieces mixed with a butter streusel that has that little extra somethin’ somethin’ from the bacon grease! You’ve just gotta do it to understand the awesomeness!

That's great! That's the sign of a real cook -- just mix some things and it all turns out great! It's a good thing your go-to phrase is 'crud muffins'. Mine is 'rats' and that wouldn't be near so good for a recipe!

That's funny. Yeah, I must admit though, there are a few other words that are making their presence known these days, LOL

Hard Fork 19 and the new growth are definitely having impacts -- and not all good ones, that's for sure. It's interesting how some of the same issues rise up every time there's a surge of new people.

And in the original white paper, the Steemit design rejected the tipping approach, because the mental overhead is just too great - other projects show that people seize up and don't tip at all. Yet, with the voting power adjustments, the mental overhead is even greater! And people are definitely leaving a lot of voting impact on the table every day. They aren't using their full vote potential because they are so focused on keeping their percentage high. Even though a low percentage upvote by them pays out better, for the average minnow or small dolphin, than before HF19. There. That's the end of my rant, lol.

Good post, Thanks for sharing

Well it is certainly interesting looks like something kids would eat.

They love them @sarahjay, thanks!

@gringalicious -You have literally pulled a crud muffin out of thin air. Very creative of you to take a term and create a recipe around it. I am excited about this recipe because it helps to clear off the crud in the kitchen. Will work with my wife to try this out this weekend. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted.

As you created these recipes, I have focused on improving my blogs. I have posted an interesting blog about Human vs animal eye capabilities, based on my original photos of wildlife. I request you to take a look when you have time and give your comments. It will help me improve my blogs and enrich my Steemit experience.

Thanks for reading @vm2904! I hope your wife enjoys these and good luck on Steemit!

You should start your own bakery or something. So everytime you tease us with your post we could just go straight to your shop. 😁
