Good food is irreplaceable...

You would especially relate with this thought if you are a foodie and crave for that perfect taste from the cuisine you choose to eat. I love shawarma, a Middle-Eastern delicacy especially for the meat lovers. The roasted meat stuffing, the right amount of hummus, and the perfect crunch of veggies. It just makes it devilishly delicioso. I guess I had found that perfect place. But yet, I wanted to ditch it and try out another option, where the place and the ambiance appeared more palatable. I was right. The place was perfect, the feel was good, well air-conditioned, and excellent service. But what about the food?

It looked good when it arrived, but we were terribly disappointed with the taste. Imagine the level of disappointment; we left that place and strode right to our favorite spot to order for that perfect shawarma roll. This answered my very basic question, why small and modest outlets are most of the times more successful when compared to some plush places with good service and ambiance, but average food. The reason is good food, which is irreplaceable!
When you travel across cities and ask like-minded foodies for the authentic delicacies, you hardly get recommendations to go to five star restaurants. They recommend those dingy looking spots in the old part of the town where the seating is modest, but the food is great. And trust me, nothing can beat that.

Good post Komal.. Loved it. I have always loved eating food on the roadside eateries, dhabas as we call in India.. They are delicious!
Thanks Subhendu. I always look out for these options....they bring authenticity to your food experience.
