You and what you eat...

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Its been a while I posted on health and food, I guess I'm led to, today. Health definitely is wealth and food is like fuel to the body.

Introduction

Anything an individual eats becomes a part of their inner being , this of course has an effect on the outer body.

The healthier the foods you consume, the better you look. If however you are someone who pays little or no attention to what goes into your mouth, you are causing yourself hidden problems.

The body is known to take nutrients from digested foods to function properly and stay healthy. Good nutrition translates into good health and health is freedom.

Nutrition

Nutrition is the usage of food to grow, repair and maintain the body. Nutrition is, getting the right amount of nutrients un the right proportion. Nutrients are substances in food that the body processess to enable it function.

The essential nutrients are :
Carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, minerals, water and lipids. The absorption of nutrients start with the onset of digestion.

Some suggested good nutritious foods

Grains are important because they contain fibre for easy digestion.

Fruits and veggies are sweet tasting and they aid digestion as well. They contain vitamins and minerals and are very low in fat.

Protein and milk are required for body nourishment. Milk and milk foods are important sources of calcium.

Minerals are good source of healing and nourishment to the body. Minerals and vitamins are known.

Water is another essential nutrient, I do not think any individual can survive a week without water. Also there wre some underlying diseases that will find their way into one's body if one does not take enough water. Water flushes out toxuc or waste material from the body.

Conclusion

You are what you eat. The act of being careful about food or that is to be ingested into the body should'nt be ignored. The act of being deliberate about what to eat should not be taken with levity.

Here in Canada children are taught the basics of the Canada Food Guide. It is recommended that vegetables and fruit should be the major food;
"Give vegetables and fruit the leading role. Make half (½) your plate vegetables and fruit.
Different vegetables and fruit offer different nutrients for health. Include a variety for good health.
Include dark green and orange vegetables. They are packed with nutrients.
Try simple recipes that call for leafy greens such as beet greens, broccoli, chard, collards, kale and spinach.
Enjoy orange vegetables such as squash (acorn, butternut), pumpkin, sweet potatoes or yams. Try them baked, boiled or pureed in soups.
Add colour and crunch to your meals by serving up raw vegetables. Serve vegetables like red, yellow or green peppers, carrot sticks, and cherry or grape tomatoes with your meal. Try them with dips made with herbs, spices and lower fat plain yogurt.
Eating whole vegetables and fruit is more nutritious than drinking juice. Choose them more often than juice."

I like the fact that kids are taught that. It will help them cultivate good eating habits early. Thank you for your wonderful contribution.

Every 7 years your cells make up what you have eaten, eat junk then your cells will be junk, eat healthy, then healthy cells.

Wow...thank you for this great addition..

There's this saying that "Healthy eating is the solution to many of our health-care problems."

Thank you for this educative post. It's been a while @ponmile
