Xinjiang Lamb Hotpockets 新疆的烤包子

in #food6 years ago (edited)

There are two popular types of Chinese Halal / Muslim food. One is Lanzhou styled beef noodles, and the other involves cuisine from Western China and Xinjiang in particular. Out that way, some of the food resembles what you might expect if you were traveling through Central Asia. One particular food item is a baked hotpocket.

These things, at least at the Xinjiang places where I live in Southern Jiangsu, are typicially filled with lamb and onion. They are ultra cheap, too -- running at about 5 RMB each.

So, basically having about four of these is quite a filling and satisfying lunch or dinner.

ohhhh I love this so much. Tried them on my trip in Xinjiang years back, earlier this year I found similar things in Kyrgyzstan but the ones in Xinjiang are still the best.

I approve your experience.
