Sunday Morning - Overnight Oats With Chia Seeds

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Happy weekend! Overnight oats are quick and cheap, but also very good for you.
You can make it ahead of time, so you have a delicious breakfast waiting for you every morning.

Here’s my overnight oats, or as we call it here in Norway: Kjøleskapsgrøt (fridge porridge).
It’s because the porridge makes itself in the fridge.

It’s decorate with strawberries, grapes, walnuts, shredded coconut and honey. Basically everything I had laying on my kitchen counter.

The oats are made this was:

  • Find a big container with a lid

  • Pour as much oats as you’d like into it

  • Choose your favorite milk and pour it in

  • Add Greek yoghurt, regular or vegan yoghurt into the container

  • Mix it together. The mix should be very runny. Like pancake batter

  • Add chia seeds if you’d like

  • Add a sweetener - I added maple syrup. But honey is really good too

  • Add a flavor. You can add anything! Banana, peanut butter, cacao, you name it! I just added a bit of cinnamon this time

  • Put it in the fridge for at least an hour. I like it best when it’s been in the fridge overnight. And it still taste good for another few days

It’s ofcoursed styled to look its best in pictures.
So if you wonder what it looks like when I actually eat it:

Ser veldig innbydende ut dette her @Susanne.
Skulle ønske jeg var like flink til å lage sunne alternativer :)

Wow I LOVE food!

Food is truly one of the most essential and fulfilling parts of the human experience.

I actually founded and created @gardenofeden and there is no place in the world I have been to that has more epic feasting on a daily basis than here. We feast in abundance every day and what makes it even more awesome is that its all sustainably sourced to the highest pedigree.

Love your posts, don't check in often enough because I am so BEYOND busy, but love it and appreciate you as a valuable Steemaian!

Hope to get to know you better!

SteemON!

That looks great! We eat far too much junk here in the US. Thanks for your post, and you have a new follower.

Even if I know much about healthy food, I still eat junk sometimes too. But I think balance is key. We should probably all eat a bit more healthy. And drink more water too! :)
Thanks for following me, I appreciate it.

Porridge is always a good idea!!! :))

Looks like a pretty simple way to make a very healthy breakfast, I would probably use honey and cinnamon to top it.

Your overnight oats look so thick and creamy!! I love making overnight oats, they are my go to breakfast, so quick and delicious!

Overnight oats is the best 😍 This looks super yummy! ❤

It looks yummy... @susanne
Thanks for sharing this healthy post.
I'll try this. Happy Sunday

Glad you liked it. :) happy Sunday to you too.

Thanks.. and keep it up. 👍

I love your recipe, it's a pretty simple option, in general my breakfasts are oatmeal-based, my last post has a recipe for oatmeal with pancakes where I talk a little bit about the benefits of oatmeal.
I quote

Oats is a very complete cereal, with an important contribution of vitamins, minerals and energy for our daily diet, among the benefits contained in oats stands out; the soluble fiber that helps stabilize glucose levels in the body, prevents cancer risk, stimulates the production of lecithin which in turn helps purify the body, contains important levels of calcium for the bone system, contains iodine, thyroid regulator and a number of other benefits that make oats a special option!

Thanks for sharing, I'm sure I'll try to do it, I just have to see if I can do as well as you, happy Sunday.
