Viet Nam style Honey Ginger Chicken - Sweet, Savory, and So Satisfying!
Hey, it's been a while since I last shared something here. Life got busy, I needed to deal with some unexpected things but I’m finally back and it feels so good to be writing again! How have you all been lately?
Today, to treat myself, I made one of my ultimate comfort foods Honey Ginger Chicken. There’s something magical about cooking, once I start, I leave everything else behind and just dive into the creativity, the smell, and the joy of making something delicious. Good food really can brighten your day, at least, it always does for me.
So come join me in the kitchen, and let’s make this simple, flavorful, and nourishing dish together!
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces of boneless chicken thigh
- Onion, shallot, ginger
- For the sauce: Honey, fish sauce, soy sauce, water, black pepper, msg, chilli sauce.
How to make it:
Step 1: Prepare the chicken. Wash and pat dry the chicken thighs really well, leaving no water left on the surface. Season them lightly with salt and pepper.
Step 2: Add just a bit of oil to the pan (because the chicken will release its own fat so no need much oil). Start by frying the skin side down until golden, then flip to the other side. Keep the heat high, that’s a good way to get a crispy outside and juicy inside.
While waiting for the chicken turns golden, it’s time to make the magic sauce.
- Step 3: With the amount of chicken I have, I use 2 spoons of fish sauce, 3 spoons of honey, half spoon of msg (if you want), 2 spoons of chili sauce, some black pepper, and a small bowl of water. Stir them well and set a side.
- Step 4: Chop your onion, shallots, and ginger as much or as little as you like. I prefer to have a lot of ginger and onion.
When the chicken looks perfectly golden, add these aromatics to the pan. Stir well until everything becomes fragrant.
We are almost there, but you know what, the smell is already so good now.
- Step 5: Pour in the sauce mixture and let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
That’s when you know it’s ready. The smell and the look of it will make you fall in love instantly.
I couldn't wait to taste them 😀Chicken is done now, let it cool down a little and take it out, slice it however size you like, as well as decorate it as you want.
Overall, the color of the dish looks absolutely beautiful and glossy like caramel. The chicken is tender and juicy, soaked in a perfectly balanced sauce that’s sweet, savory, and just a little spicy. It’s pure comfort and seriously next-level delicious.
I swear, you would love it so much. The combination of ginger and onion is unbelievable, so tasty and flavorful.
Try one bite of the chicken with sauce and white rice, you feel it’s out of the world 😂
So, that’s it for today. Thank you for reading my post. Hope you like it and somehow motivate you to cook at home and share with your loved ones.
See you in the next post and send love and good vibes from Da Nang!
