Spirituality is not for fools: Otherwise, they will trample them and then tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:6
Many Bible studies establish a marked difference between the New and Old Testament, but this is not really the case, the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, is not entirely original. To a certain extent, the spiritual doctrine of Jesus is more a continuation of the teachings of the sapiential books, like the Book of Proverbs and the Book of Psalms, than a continuation of the teachings of the law of Moses; this is why Jesus continued with what is expressed in Psalm 1, the Psalm of the two paths; there are two paths and two rewards before the reason of man, and as a free and discerning creature, man has the freedom to choose.
In more practical terms the expression of the two paths means that spirituality is not for fools, spirituality only makes sense to the spiritual man, while the carnal man is dedicated only to worldly matters such as money, lust, and power, this is a teaching that Jesus wanted to warn his disciples about in the Sermon on the Mount. Invisible realities exist and these can only be grasped in their true sense by those who fear God and follow the path of righteousness ("Treat people the same way you want them to treat you" Matthew 7:12). This is why Jesus expressed a spiritual truth with these wise words: "Don't give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls to pigs. Otherwise, they will trample them and then tear you to pieces" Matthew 7:6. In other words, what Jesus wanted to explain is that if men do not know the people who are dealing with, men run the risk of giving a good and receiving an evil in return. And to understand this spiritual truth in another way, it must be understood that when oppression and ignorance prevail in a society, men lose all hope for a better future, and thus reason gives way to madness, and error prevails in its most destructive form. Jesus ultimately made it clear in the Sermon on the Mount that only when the science of God prevails among men, and the best are placed in positions of responsibility, are faith, happiness, and beatitude possible.
