FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 - Group C

In group C, France is not only the main option for first place but I dare to say they are one of the 3-4 teams likely to win the World Cup. The blues have a strong and young team, probably the best combination of physicality and technique. I would not be surprised if they lifted their second trophy.

The debut will be against Australia, who actually beated the french 1-0 in the 2001 Confederations Cup. The other three matches, all friendlies, ended up in two wins for the europeans (1-0 in 1994 and 6-0 in 2013) and a 1-1 draw in 2001. France and Peru only met once and the south americans won 1-0 a friendly in 1982.

France will also face a well known rival in Denmark and they are pretty much leveled. During the 1998 World Cup, France had the upper hand with a 2-1 win, while the danish got their revenge with a 2-0 win in the 2002 World Cup. The friendly matches show 5 wins for France, 2 for Denmark and 1 draw.

Although I consider Denmark as the possible runner ups, Peru is back in a World Cup after 36 years and the expectations are high. Both will clash in their tournament debut and it's going to be the first match between them. The winner will have a foot in the round of 16. Also, it will be the first ever Australia-Peru.

Finally, danish and australians have recent history with friendlies won by Denmark in 2007 and 2013, while the Aussies had a 1-0 in 2010.
