Leicester City win the league... Gary Lineker loses his pants!
There is one thing more precious to us Brits than our famed reserve... and that's honouring our word. This explains why BBC Match Of the Day presenter Gary Lineker presented the show in his underpants.
For those (outside the UK) wondering why the former Barcelona, Everton and Spurs striker did this, here is another Leicester City Supporter, MP Keith Vaz, explaining the context of the incident,
As you would expect from a former England international, Lineker, 55, took his preparation seriously,
and didn't scrub up too badly! You could even say he rose to the occasion.
Lineker only presented the opening segment in his underwear... much to the consternation of many a housewife, I'm sure!
In actual football news, Leicester City lost the opening game of the season to Hull City... so we'll likely be spared a repeat performance from Lineker next season!!
Here is the tweet that started it all...
Let's hope that Ian Wright doesn't pledge to do MOTD in his birthday suit should Arsenal win the league...
Yikes! Thankfully with Arsene Wenger still managing the Gunners, there's probably little to worry about on that score! ;)
no so good start for 2016-17 leicester' season but me and my friends are all hoping there will be a second season like the past!!!! loved the story and we sant to repeat!
Nice to see the normal order of things restored after yesterday's results. Leicester and Vardy were proved to be what there are "Average".
Let's hope we all get to see Ian Wright in his birthday suit next year as Arsenal are sure to win the League 😉
LOL... I'll post a picture with me in just my pants if Liverpool win the league!!
Nice amusing article. Thanks
This EPL season is going to be one incredible session methinks
For those interested in the numbers here's a great Podcast by Freakonomics on the subject. The Longest Long Shot... really interesting stuff!
