Another Great Weekend :)
Its been another busy but great weekend for me at my football coaching academy Kekoa Coaching.
Saturday
This is our busiest day as we have all age group training, we start with the 4-8 year olds and the 5-10 year olds then finish off back the a 4-8 year old group. We also have all of our football teams training which makes it a very good day.
U6s
We have just started an U6 year old team and my plan is to get them playing competitive football against other teams as soon as possible. I have arranged their first ever game next week and so the training was focused on match play.
U7s
Our U7s had a friendly game against HD Rangers and they performed brilliantly and won 6-1. It was so pleasing the see the coaching that we have been doing, working with the children. The players played so well the two were selected to play for the U8 team for the league game on Sunday.
U8s
After a long week of after the snow, the U8 team was hit the hardest as 5 players had to pull out of training due to illness. We have another group of 5-7 year olds that usually train separate from the U8 team who are assessed to see when they are ready to join the team. This group was merge together with the U8s. We had a decision to make in regards to the squad for Sunday.
U9s
The 9s had two players missing due to illness but the majority of the squad was able to train. They worked on crossing and finishing and it was good to see everyone enjoying the session. The team looked ready for Sundays game.
U10s
The 10s have improved so much over the last two months and progress was seen during their last performance which see them win 3-2 against a team that previously beat them very comfortably 4-1. Training has become very serious and competitive which is what I want to see.
Sunday
Three game were scheduled for today
- U8s v Interwood
- U9s vs Wapping Warriors
- U10s v All Stars
U8s
This was a very tough game for our U8s as they were up against a very strong team. There were also two U7 players in the squad but the team done really well only losing 5-2. I was very pleased with the performace, and never say die attitude.
U9s
The 9s played very well and won their game 3-1. I did feel they could've stuck to the game plan more which would've mad the game a little more comfortable, but overall I was pleased.
U10
Unfortunately the U10 team got cancelled as the other team couldn't field a team :(
On to tomorrow and the start of a new week at Kekoa :)
