Forgetting
Everyone talks about forgiving, but not many people emphasize the importance of forgetting.
You lay on your bed replaying conversations, moments, and people that hurt you for hours, days, months, or even years. In your heart, you believe you have forgiven, but the memory just keeps coming back.
Maybe that’s why people say forgive and forget, because honestly, there is nothing more hurtful than allowing someone to live rent-free in your head.
I’m not saying it’s easy. As I’m writing this, I’m still figuring out how to forget, because I’m tired of being a slave to my thoughts and the moments that hurt me.
Forgetting may not literally mean erasing the memory. You might never forget what happened. But maybe letting go means reaching a point where you can remember it without having to relive it.
